Old v Young. What happens when you google "wireless"? My granny would have been at a total loss.
Not so fast, Ed. I am now trying out a $3300 power cord. And by the way, almost all wires sound different, some are too bright, etc, etc. What is wrong with you guys? Never try different wires for audio connections? '-)
I am getting a patent on a power cord. More details once it is issued. It will not cost $3,300.00!
As to other cables, I might have looked at them in the past! 🙂
But nonsense is nonsense.
I think that there is a very complicated mutual relationship, and no one has said anything about the inductance of the cable and its capacity.
I have said so in a couple of posts replying to yours, explaining that as long as they are linear, the will not cause distortion. And I invited you to point to a cable that is not linear in L and C between DC and 20kHz. Which was met by silence from your end.
There's probably many similarities between the two, opinion based on perception with plenty of ego and BS thrown into the mix.I had always hoped that this would be the case regarding politics, but they keep coming back somehow!
Er, I wonder if the same is true in audio? 🙄
Right on cue John, fake "news" 😉

Multiple small gauge wires like #22 is most likely optimum, IF you can afford it. Pure copper or pure silver is probably best as well. We sometimes have problems with silver plated copper wire, because the silver plating is contaminated. Plated silver on copper may be better. We know lots about optimum audio cables, it just isn't accepted by most people STILL here (the others have been driven off over the years).
An audio friend from 25 years ago made his cable conductors from, oh, 100 strands of silver plated wire-wrap wire, which was used to connect up big iron computer backplanes. They connected his Bryston 4B to a KEF B110, I'm forgetting what tweeter... They looked like welding cables, so I asked him about it and he only said "low inductance". Each cable conductor was spaced feet apart on its way to the speaker.
Which is the way to maximize inductance!

0000 welding cable works fine and less work and cheaper (unless you lift the wire wrap wire from work).

Actually more sane people have been driven off.
Only because of reduced mutual inductance, but the eddy current losses will be minimum with paralleled small diameter wire.

And we are still here because.... 🙂
@john curl
I was asking a chap about Hawksford's ideas in another thread. When I asked about the half radian phase shift (which he agreed was significant... if true) he too mentioned eddy currents, said that the arguments against Hawksford involved complicated equations and then left it there. Not very helpfully convincing. A bit patronizing actually.
So who is Eddy and how are his currents complicit with skin depth and phase shift?

Depends on the granny. When I was a kid, my father had a tube AM transmitter salvaged from a record player he told my grandfather had owned.
We arranged for a xtal mic input. The TV repairman next door told me he heard my voice eminating from his TV - and also to watch what I said.
And what should I explain to you if you do not understand? Go read books.I have said so in a couple of posts replying to yours, explaining that as long as they are linear, the will not cause distortion. Not so fast Ed. They have to recover the costs of R&D which we all know is expensive. Especially when you spend umpteen hours trying to justify your intended price point and spend that time ensuring the customer received value for the money. When the first few thousand hours showed you were unable to make a legitimate claim, you still had that nagging profit/loss thingy to deal with. At that point you must create a product that was visually something to behold. Something that the owner could be proud to own and proud to show his friends. Something that no doubt must be worth the money or no one would purchase it, right? But nonsense is nonsense.
Something that the new owner was going to go to bed at night knowing he had done the right thing. Something that definitely made the entire system sound better.
It's called marketing and I know a thing or two about it. Put away the technical side of things for a minute. Their is a certain pride factor in being able to purchase a product of this nature. It says "I have made it in this world, I am able to purchase this without guilt, and gosh darn it, I'm going to enjoy it."
Does it actually improve things? I'll let others decide, but I ask, is this sort of item good value or not? I'll leave you guys to decide but in the meantime may I please direct your attention to women's fashion as a reference point. And no, don't say well that's just women, as they can just as easily turn the table, and return the comment.
Okay, I'm going back to my Mod duties now. Have a nice weekend everyone.
No I do not want. But people are asking. I do not have this book in English, this is a German book. That's so helpful on an English speaking forum. Care to enlighten us GUNFU?
