I pre-ordered a Nutube B1 kit and while looking for some already builded kits, I noticed a lot of people using a LM317 regulator. Is this recommended? If going this way, should I still be using the TRIAD transformer?
Not recommended. Most people (like me) are using lm317 with a linear supply, not after a smps.
If this is your first build or you are a beginner use the recommended smps power supply.
If you are comfortable working with live AC voltage from the wall you can expiriment later with a linear supply and a lm 317 or something. Honestly, the benefits are not great.

indeed this is my first build, I'll stick with the Triad transformer for now
Good plan. In the future if you have questions it's better to post directly in the Korg B1 thread instead of starting a new one. More people are subscribed to that thread and you are likely to get better/quicker answers.

I found the Sigma 11 discrete regulator kit from AMB Labs to be a fun and easy alternative to the ubiquitous 3-pin regulator.
Instead of the LM317/337 pair (for +/-12V rails, have anyone tried the Texas Instruments TPS7A47 and TPS7A33 duo, or just the ‘47 for positive rail? These come in 7 pin TO220 package.
