Home printing Front and Rear Panels

I've been playing today with a fair degree of success.

I had to print some black lettering on an anodised aluminium front panel and white lettering on a black rear panel.

I came across some white and clear paper that can be used for producing decals for plastic models, the type that float off in water and stick to the substrate.

The front panel was easy printing black on clear.

The more challenging rear panel was produced by printing a white text on a black background on a white sheet of the film.

The results are really good and don't look as home brew as some efforts in the past.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to laquer over the finished panels.

What paper are you using for the white on black?

I'm using white water slide paper.

Set WORD to print on black paper and use white text.

That won't print correctly but on-screen you get black paper and white text.

I just screen capture that into PAINT and then print it.

I end up with a black page with white print on it.

Hmmm..... my system, PAINT (Win7) will do the whole thing.

Fill Color 1 with Black. Use the paint-spill tool to flood the paper with black.

Fill Color 1 with White. Use the text tool to make text. I see a full set of font-faces and types.

The printed text is delicate as you can see if you look at my photo carefully.

Luckily or unluckily, depending on how you think, When I offered the panel to the project I found that I had put the transfers on upside down so I will have to do them again.

Removing them was too easy. A spray on laquer will be required to protect the finished project.
