Schottky diodes are the way to go unless you need to have a rectifier tube to look at.
With Schottky Diodes , he did not have a good outcome.
I thought they were the best option, even with a 0.01uf 100ohms network, through the diodes

I dont know but Susumu Sakuma used coupling and output transformers ( not cap ) and DHT to drive other DHT.
If not have a good result , will go for 6c45p with Interstage Lundahl 1:1 or 2:1, and the 300B only.

Yes, Sakuma would put a step-up transformer in front of the #45 and a step-up interstage between the #45 and 300B, then he'd throw the 6C45 into a drawer.
Personally I would rather have the 6C45 driving the 300B. The 6C45 is more capable of driving a 300B than a #45 is.
the 45 is there , only because of a whim.

You really need more gain? The 1:2 step-up seems like a waste. A 1:2 step-down might not be that out of the question.
