Is Vishay Dale resistors become something you can't get anymore?
I have searched in several component shops but mostly are they not possible to get or if you can, you have to order them and wait many many weeks or month until they get made, other is no longer in production.
Second, are the right for me? I have read that some think thay make the sound clinical and is perfect for an step attenuator because there "no sound" but if you are looking fore something musically, they are not particular great.

Thanks but I have tried mouser but they have about nothing left.
Which exact part number? There are many resistance values and powers.
A distributor may be out of stock on a particular value because of a recent large purchase.

Any recognized brand of metal film would do the job, and aim for 1% or better, no need for 1w if it's just audio signals, if it's a ladder attenuator there are good calculators online
Maybe 500mW is good enough, I can see you are pointing toward RN65, didn't know them, I have mostly read about CMF, how do they differ?
For consumer purposes, the RN and CMF series are identical. The RN series is also MIL qualified.

I get 3700+ hits for RN55 on mouser.dk, so plenty to choose from. However, they are not 1W and never have been, so if this is what you need you have to look elsewhere.
RN55 is 1/8W as mil-spec and 1/4W as industrial-spec (where they are also called CMF55). RN60 is 1/4W and 1/2W under same conditions (CMF60 as industrial).
If you are seriously concerned about the sound of resistors, then I'd suggest you order some different ones (Mouser is a good choice if you are in DK) and experiment.

Farnell US (newark) has 6830 lines of Vishay through hole resistors in stock.
Vishay recently retooled the line to make resistors smaller for the same wattage, and moved production to BRA IMHO. These smaller resistors may burn a paper PCB at rated wattage. But people want cheaper, every day. So old part numbers may be no longer available. Vishay metal film resistors used to come from THA. Multicomp (farnell house brand) still do, at least I got some from there last summer. I've found farnell house brands to meet advertised spec wherever they come from.
Cool trick to save money at farnell. Use the min max tool to accept resistors from nominal value -10% to +10%. Use min max on wattage too. I often find 1% end of bin resistors at the non-stock value costing 10-20% of the nominal value 10% tolerance ones. Often $1.20 a hundred for 500-600 mw ones.
The new vishays are so short, 1 W resistors are no longer rated 300 v for tube circuits. So watch that if building vacuum tube circuits, have to go up to 2 or 3 watts to get something that will hold off plate/grid voltage with dust+moisture on it.

Vishay Dale RN is in several sizes, is there any sound / other difference?
Some values can you not get in RN65 but in RN55. The RN55 is way smaller then the RN65 even they both is set to be 500mW 1%.

If Mouser's system tells you that the RN55s are rated 500W then that is a mistake in their catalog data 🙄
And obviously size and tolerance has nothing to do with each other either.
Thanks a lot, I did also not understand it. I have to have made a mistake but when I think I chose 500mW 1% Vishay and other parameters, the lot smaller RN55 did appear.
