Correct. This is the scientific version of click-bait.
The virus did not originate in a lab. It is not man-made; it's just not possible. It would be the equivalent of giving NIkola Tesla the new iPhone and asking him to make a new phone. He was a freakishly brilliant man and maybe even could have figured out pieces of how it worked. But it would still be impossible on a comical scale.
Let me answer this in another way. If someone asked me to design a virus, how would I do it? First, we would have to use pieces of other viruses. We don't have anywhere near enough understanding of genetics and proteins to design anything from scratch. If I did so, anyone working with the sequences (which is a lot of scientists) would immediately be able to tell. Also, we don't know anywhere near enough about how viruses work and their immunology to even know what we would have to design in the first place. I can go into more detail if anyone desires.
Forgive them, for they know not what they do.
On a similar note, the protestors are back today outside the lab. Impressive really considering the outbreak and that it's raining. I can't see what from my vantage point, but something is clearly on fire. I can see signs that say the virus is a hoax or something; so I guess that is what they are specifically gathering for.
Edit: I can see now that the burning things are small flags. I can't tell what flags are though, some are light blue and some are red?
Edit2: Apparently Chinese flags and the flag for the WHO (I didn't even know they had a flag)

If nothing else, the it´s nice to know, that at least a good amount of people are still able to use their common sense.
And... still hilarious to see/hear, that some people are just incredibly stupid.
Or very uneducated. Think about it. If you have no idea what evolution is, if you can't imagine things you can't see, you go through the world having no idea what's going on. Everything looks like magic and it is easy to suspect bad intend.
Once again, we see that the importance of education cannot be overstated.
On the plane yesterday I saw people dutifully coughing into their inner elbow, only to wipe their nose with their hands afterwards ...

Like whomever it is that didnt close the high school today - yeah, just send 'em all in for another round of cross-contamination - go and do the one thing so many are saying is the wrong thing to do right now - gather people together.
Not that Washington state having the worst infection in the whole country would have anything to do with the ease of making such a decision...

one perspective is to consider the virus as a bullet, it's a just a 'dumb thing'. Bullets don't kill, people do. The virus needs people to propagate it before it can kill too and stupid people is all it takes.

Interesting to see how it propagates through the global population.
As a general point, with 7+ billion of us on the planet, we are ALL going to have to start living more hygienically - something that maybe WHO should lead very actively eg everyone washes their hands 4 times a day (tough in some places, I know), don’t touch your face, maybe think of a different way of greeting rather than shaking hands or kissing etc.
Ditto ablution facilities as well. In Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and for the most part USA where I lived and visited were exemplary- but China, many parts of Europe and the UK too many of them are filthy. Period.
One other thing - no more wet markets were viruses are presented with a golden opportunity to jump from one species to another.
Well, having just read the latest info-letter from the school, it seems the lead guy's so focused on keeping the school's short term services going (the forest) he's lost sight of the long term well being of the community it's all there for (the trees).
For example, they're offering a free lunch - even for those who havent paid for the lunch program. They're continuing after school teacher led clubs - decisions all flying in the face of "you gotta keep 'em separated".
Maybe someone should cleverly spoof-lyric that song, post it on the 'tube and let it go viral, pounding some sense into people's heads about the ground floor basics of pandemic management. Particularly the "tie your own rope part"...
