Certainly a mistake to conflate low sensitivity with low power handling / max sustainable SPL - particularly if the “satellites” are high filtered anywhere in the 100-200Hz range. And judging by the described application, the bass localization arguable of concern in larger rooms and/or at the high of that range would be virtually moot, I think.

The issue of course would be to have sufficient amplifier headroom to avoid clipping distortion which is not only audible, but in certain cases potentially damaging to at least the speakers XO’s or drivers. Back in the mid/late 80s to early 90’s the operator of a mobile Jazzercise franchise tested the then dealer’s liberal / discretionary warranty policy on a particular small model of Boston Acoustics - either A40 or 60, I can’t exactly recall.

Ok...

Not ideal and I doubt they'd sound better than a SZ and they will be total beaters, but here goes:

Cabinet: Denovo Subwoofer cabinet used as speaker box: $40.98

Denovo Audio Knock-Down MDF 0.67 cu. ft. Subwoofer Speaker Cabinet

Driver: Pioneer Type B20FU20-51FW $14.48
Full-Range 8" Speaker Pioneer Type B20FU20-51FW

Binding posts (cup style) $2.75
Gold Binding Post Terminal Cup with 2-Way 4,000 Hz Crossover

Port tube: $2.39

Speaker Cabinet Port Tube 2-3/4" ID x 4-3/4" L

TOTAL: $60.60

Leaves $9.00 for a can of black spray paint.

I agree, those are way to small for a dance studio. Even the much bigger 6 or 8" mark audio drivers are a bit on the border of usable for this. You need a bigger (8-12") fullrange driver and probally also a sub.

I recently talked with a local dancestudio about building boxes, in a very similar situation of you concerning size, but more hiphop and afrobeats oriented (It's runned by an african woman). They need a pumping bass and will go with the fane i mentioned and an stereo sub with lab12 drivers in vented enclosures. CR will be a minidsp and amps will be the amps they have now (Crown XLi800, one stereo for the top, and 2 bridged for the subs). We are still working on the final design (wich will be build into a wall in the studio by a contractor). Now they are using old Berhinger speakers that sound like **** to quote the owner.

I would second Chris's opinion in post 32. I have the Tozzi's and while I feel they're really great for computer/very-near-field applications as they image beautifully and look really cool, they won't do the trick nearly as well as the C-notes to fill a room (rock-out) with music.
