The Black Hole......

Bill, you are just making trouble.
Me? never 😛. I just asked a simple question hoping for a simple answer. Sadly not forthcoming.

Many dozens and probably hundreds of recordings were made by Crystal Clear Records, starting in the 70's and all through the 80's using the same B&K mikes for classical, pop, jazz and just about everything else.
41 according to discogs. I assume you have a good collection, Scott certainly has/had .I have two, which is probably more CCR than many on here. One is worth listening to, the other is only useful to get people to leave who have overstayed their welcome.

There are many 'in between' mic's that have some extended bandwidth, like Schoeps, etc. Let us move on.
So where are the recommendations for good recordings done at high sample rate using these microphones? That's all I want, so I can purchase and listen for myself.

Huh, wonder why Syn08 removed his post? I thought it was relevant.

It's all signals and systems/sampling theory. Two impulses in very short order, especially relative to the sampling period, are going to need to be filtered (and then you sample the frequencies below the Nyquist)

Thanks, I thought I must have been missing something pretty obvious, that is, the time resolution capability of the digital signal is in effect quite meaningless?

Having only really read your original question without the underlying context (sorry, don't really have bandwidth, even with filtering, for this thread 😀) I don't want to say something like what I've bolded above.

Insofar as the whinging about wider bandwidth -- it'd be nice, yes. To my estimation, it's hardly a rate limiter vs. speakers/room. Electronics are fun to play with, but not holding back reproduction (caveat: non-pathological behavior) But I generally struggle to take a lot of people seriously here.

Don't you find it sad that, for all this talk about accurate reproduction neither you nor RNM has a list to hand of recent, well recorded hi-res music?
Most days I can't take myself seriously!

Bill, as a classical music listener you should be well aware of the recordings by BIS, Polyhymnia studios (Pentatone), and Channel Classics. They have all been doing DSD and high res recordings for nearly 20 years now. Bis and Channel list all recording equipment and Pentatone used to do so. Channel and Polyhymnia now use Merging's Horus system. The Bis records in 24 bit/96hz, for the record.
You can choose any recording you like by either of these labels and it will be excellently played and sound great.

I have plenty of room clearers, Diamanda Galas once cleared the Sydney Opera House I wish I was there. Something as innocent as the Kodo Drummers sent the blue hairs for the exits at intermission here at Boston Symphony Hall, I was at this one.

Love Kodo drummers - had plenty experiences while in Japan and Taiwan.

(I still struggle with the post-apocalyptic punk though!)

Thanks Richard for your recommendation for Hi-Res sources. I am going into this area soon.
For everyone else, please understand that Richard or myself may be considered 'experts' due to our many decades of serious attention to audio improvements, but we don't know EVERYTHING! Sometimes, you just have to look around for yourself to get the answer to your question. I feel that we sometimes get blamed for not answering something that is beyond our direct knowledge, unfairly.
