At Florida Audio Expo today I was totally blown away with the sound of the Ocean Way Eureka speakers. As far as I can tell, these gorgeous $18k per pair speakers have exactly the same drivers as the Ocean Way Pro 2A studio monitors which cost $1800 per pair but are self powered and matt finished. I am dying to aquire these drivers and see what could be acomplished in a DIY build using them. Does anyone out there know what they might be?

There's the woofer. Not sure what the tweeter is.
Tweeter choice won't be extremely critical as most are very good now and there's mention that it's crossed higher than usual. Crossover and eq is where all the real important work is done.

The tweeter looks like one from the SEAS 27 line, probably the 27TDFC.
This is a strange combination from technical point of view, a large midwoofer and a bare dome without any waveguide, but i saw more speakers like this, even very expensive ones. Anyway, the 27TDFC can be crossed low, according to reports.

Yes, take two drivers and listen and tweak. No doubt that much effort has gone into this.
Many, Many thanks gents; I just placed an order for 2 of these with Meniscus, the last 2 they had in the silver aluminum cone version. Now, with regard to the tweeter, according to my research, the 27TDFC can be crossed a bit lower than the Excell T25 CF001 but the Excell is a more "premium" driver. Can any of you familiar with the appearance of both of these drivers tell which one is probably used in the Pro 2A?

The tweeter is clearly not from the Excel line, the T25CF001's diaphragm is recessed into the faceplate, whereas the Pro 2A are not, it's almost in the same plane as the faceplate, my bet is still the 27TDFC. A premium price tag and family doesn't necessarily means a better tweeter overall.

That is very true, but in this case, in this review, they did listen in the nearfield so the power response should not be that dominant
To resurect this quest, I have a friend who has a friend who actually works at Seas. That gentleman said that the tweeter in the Ocean Way Pro 2A is in fact the 27 TDFC (H1189)
With that now determined, does anyone have an idea as to a good starting point for the crossover of this tweeter to the SB 8 inch woofer?
