No tweeters and bass distortion

JX500 is a subwoofer amp

JX360 is a amp for components and coaxial speakers

my JX360/2 having issues playing component/coaxial speakers, i have no tweeter sounds and just get distorted bass, any volume.

I have a JL Audio CP212 pushing 2 12" subs, connected to a JX5001D subwoofer amplifier

I acquired a 2 channel amp to run my JL audio component speakers, I also bought a 2nd component C5 set as i thought i had faulty speakers, I also bought another 2 channel amplifier to rule out faulty amps, still distortion and no tweeters,

The issue is:

Connected via RCA cables from my subwoofer JX500 amp to my 2 channel JX360 amp

Now when I connect any speakers my tweeters dont work and all i get is distorted bass. ive double checked all the speakers to my home amp and the speakers work fine

Its a very simple set up. added a 2nd amp, then got RCA cables from the pre-outs to connect to the 2 channel JX360 amp, connected to the low level input

So why i get distortion and why the tweeters dont work is puzzling

Im thinking its a signal or cable issue, but the cables look great,

can you advise please on what to do please??

Are you using a standard head unit?

Does the 500 produce perfectly clean bass?

yes the 500 powers the twins 12s with amazing low bass, very good accuracy, but i connect the 500 to the 360/2 amp which has component speakers all i get is distorted bass

seems like im only getting a bass signal from the 500 to the 360/2

speakers work perfect, i suspect the settings or cabling

What happens if you plug the inputs into the highs amp instead of the 500?

Are the RCAs plugged into a full range output from the head unit?

Have you tried a different signal source (MP3 player/phone)?

Connected my walkman from 3.5mmm to the RCA in on the JX360 powering the components, it works fine

my subwoofer amp has RCA going in to it thats been tapped in from the factory subwoofer amp i think, thats why im only getting a bass frequency when i daisy chain from the aftermarket JX500 subwoofer amp to my JX360/2 amp, this was done by some company i hired to wire in my subwoofer and amp, what they should of done is tap into the feed from the head unit so i get a full range signal

theres no other way of getting a free range signal in to my amp now, the Audi A5 head is all built in and i wouldnt have a clue on how to connect to the head unit.

no, it seems they guys who wired it up connected the RCA from the factory subwoofer and not the head, thats why im not getting full range sounds, so annoying as the shop should of tapped into the full range feed from the head or somthing

yes im getting a full range signal and the components work fine, connected a MP3 player from 3.5mm to rca directly to the 360/2 JL audio amp

now i need to figure how to tap into the full range signal feed from the head.

the audi a5 head is factory installed and you know what factory music systems are like in newish cars, past 5 years

its not like before, where it was so easy

no, i dont think so, my B&O system in the Audi A5 is all factory, do you know if there are any pre outs on the audi stock amplifier, if so where is the location?

if i can connect my amplifier with pre out's then i can hook up the component speakers

i dont think so, its still all factory, the guys who installed the amplifier wiring kit for my subwoofer amp, they most probably tapped into the factory subwoofer amp, thats why i get a bass signal only

u would know where the factory door speaker amp is on a Audi A5? i can then tap into this and connect to my JX360/2 so i get a full range signal for my components.

when i plug the rca out to the highs or component amplifier is still get a distorted bass sound with no tweeters or mids

I connected my MP3 player from 3.5mm jack to RCA, and the amp work perfect with the component speakers, i get a full range sound, and tweeters

So i now know that the RCA out thats going into the JX500 to power the twins 12s is a bass signal only

I suspect the guys who fitted the amplifier cables tapped in to the factory subwoofer amp that powers the factory subwoofer

so I need to locate the component amplifier that is powering the door speakers and connect a 2 way RCA cable so i can connect my JX360/2 component speaker amp

The most common way that people tap into full range signals for amps mounted in the trunk is to connect a line output converter to the rear speakers. A transformer based LOC is the best option in most systems.

I know nothing about the A5 system. Some systems use fiber optics to send signal to the OEM amplifiers. An Audi forum may be more helpful to find what you model uses.

If you can tap off of the speaker line, I'd use a transformer based isolator. More information here:

yes that seems the only option

If i get a LOC, passive or active, such as the L2ci and i tap into the front door speakers will i lose the sound from my door speakers>?

I would like to keep the door speakers and additionally add 2 additional after-market component speakers

If you simply tap off of the front speakers, it will change nothing about the operation of the front speakers.
