Very large 30HZ straight horn

I would say that I never got my horn fully integrated into my home theatre.

It's going to be difficult to fit them in, much less position them for best sound. I think it does make more sense to go with tapped horns. Is there a tapped horn design appropriate for the Alpine drivers I have on hand? I am predominantly a DIY SET tube amp builder. Horn speaker DIY is new to me, as I'm sure is obvious. My DIY trip has been a never ending road made up entirely of wicked learning curves. Here I go again...

Greets!

Hmm, small driver, long horn for < 2 octaves doesn't compute, especially for your 1 pi loading requirement [wall-floor], so need to change your simmed 0.5 pi = corner loaded to 1 pi and think big throat, big drivers to shorten it, increase efficiency, power handling. Classic horn designs are for either running 'full-range' or XO'd in the ~250-500 Hz bandwidth [BW] with low order XOs depending on the needs of the app.

A limited BW bass horn ideally needs multiple drivers in a throat sized to roll off above a specific XO point, but to just do a quickie example [not necessarily the most optimized WRT driver selection] I randomly chose a couple of 18" prosound horn drivers with a throat area [St] = 2x driver effective piston area [Sd], which requires only ~1/3rd the bulk of yours [smallest simmed] and due to the summed big driver has higher efficiency and while these drivers are pricey, my SWAG is that total parts, material cost will be less than yours and way less time consuming to build.

Of course cheaper and/or smaller drivers can be used since it's for HIFI where only 10-20 watts will likely ever be needed, so we can 'squeeze' them with up to a 3:1 CR for even greater power efficiency.

Regardless, started this the other day and now see you've moved on, but still useful as 'noob' ;) examples, so Import the attached files to view, etc., to maybe get a better grasp on how to manipulate HR or at least use them to ask more specific Qs. Also, when wanting HR sim related critique, please attach [Export] your file.

Thanks GM! I haven't entirely moved on, although I probably should. I will review your examples to learn more about it.

Here are a few screen shots of my most recent (uninformed) exploration with the Alpine drivers. Please be gentle. I will review your examples and come back with a more informed attempt.

Going from 0.5 x Pi to 1.0 x Pi shows a lot more ripple in the simulation. I tried expo30HZ3-1CRv1 in Hornresp, and it has less ripple than my sim in a much smaller horn.

Mine is the first and GM's is the second. Both are in 1.0 x Pi space. I think I entered the values properly....
