Approximately 11", 3" voice coil and +- 14mm of LINEAR excursion. 🙂

Pure subwoofer, huge excursion, the +/-14mm linear isn't exaggerated by any marketing-calculation-tricks. Not a huge Mms for a sub that goes that low with a that HUGE voice coil diameter (75mm!!!), 60l for 25 Hz sounds very reasonable. Low spl but that was to be expected.
Very interesting is, besides the BR enclosure, it's excellent for a sealed enclosure! In only 28l it goes down (-3) to 43Hz, -8dB at 28Hz! 😱 That makes it an excellent choice for fans of closed subs.

ICG, thanks for taking up the flag!
I have to say, that is a most awesome combination. Essentially, this sub could be flat to sub-sonic levels in the right room, with a 1 ft3 enclosure. An apartment dweller's dream. 🙂
The bad news is it will probably be a $300-$400 driver. 🙁 🙁 🙁
Best,
E

Inductance is nice and low for that much coil. Looks like a good performer.
That's right (though the inductance is effectively not that important for a subwoofer driver).

Especally because with a that high Xmax it's still able to deliver quite high SPLs. The impedance of 4 Ohm is also excellent to get higher power output from amplifiers.

Yes, I regret that very much too. 🙁
Pure subwoofer [...] Low spl but that was to be expected.
Yea. And lower in practice than the stated SPL, which appears to be true for the 100-300Hz range.
Plugging the numbers into a calculator, I get 85dB.
Looking at the 25-80Hz range on the spec sheet, 85dB looks about right.
Yes, that's right and since it's a 4 Ohm driver, these 85dB are at 2W. So a potent amp would be preferable, 150W are needed for 105dB, 500 for 110dB, that is without the room gain though.
I've been using the big brother of this driver, the 32W/4878T00 in a current project. It is a very clean and noise free driver even beyond X-max. They are expensive but absolutely worth the money.
The Klippel tests for the 32W/4878T00 look very good. Love the ability to extend high if needed.
Just an FYI, the latest edition of Voice Coil Magazine features this woofer on their "Test Bench" section. As expected, it tests very well.
How would you rate this driver vs. Audiotechnology 12" flexunit with sandwich cone?
Sandwich cone
Looking for a high SQ driver for an array of subs I am building.

Hi,
I would also be very interested in this.
Anyone here, who has experience with both drivers?
Thanks in advance
Matthias
I've just bought the 28W 4878t00 and Wilmslow Audio are building the subwoofer for me. They did calculations and the driver goes as low as 31Hz for -6db in a 45 litre e sealed enclosure.
I get the sub in 3-4 weeks and will post a review if anyone is interested.

Though this probably will be too late for my own descision making, I would be very interested in your review.
3-4 weeks is quite a long time. Seems as if this driver is sold out everywhere at the moment?
