I am trying to build an NAP200 clone and the design requires a 2N5089 transistor mounted below the pcb and in touch with the
Chassis. Some sort of temperature based bias adjustment i presume.

The problem is that i am unable to find 2N5089 transistor. So is there any substitute that i can use?

Actually the 2N5210 is a better match to the 2N5087 the complimentary part. It pretty much replaced the 2N5089.

for next time. use google search for: 2n5089 equivalent

SMD Equivalent
The SMD versions of the 2N5089 are available as the MMBT5089 (SOT-23) and MMBTH10 (SOT-23).
Replacement and equivalent transistor for the 2N5089
You can replace the 2N5089 with the MPS650, MPS650G, MPS6532, MPS6601, MPS6601G, MPS6602, MPS6602G, MPSH10, MPSW01, MPSW01A, MPSW01AG, MPSW01G or ZTX690B

CDIL still have 2N5088, 5089 in their product line: 2N5088 2N5089 — Transistors | Manufacturer | Continental Device India Ltd (CDIL).
However, this is not an original part in the NAP200, it's just the substitution used by the Ebay kit supplier. As said, you can use almost any small signal TO92 NPN transistor for the VBE multiplier transistors or the VI limiter circuits - not so with more critical applications like the LTP transistors.

These are the ones available

1. 2N5550
2. 2N5551
3. 2N3904
4. MPSA06
So out of this which ones would you prefer using in place of 2n5089?

The LTP or input stage requires a pair of low noise, high gain transistors, matched such that the DC offset is minimised to <30 mV. Assuming they are genuine semis, made to the original specification, only the 2N3904 in your list comes close and you still need to select the individual transistors on test.

Actually, I wouldn't use any of the semis in your list, you'll have to look to better suppliers of parts. None of these are necessarily expensive unless they are obsolete, so look around. The original semis are BC239C but similar types like BC109C, BC549C, BC550C, BC184 ( note the C suffix meaning high hFE or gain). Others like 2N5089, MPSA18 may also be suitable. 2N3904 will work OK but not all manufacturers provide genuine specification parts - some products marked 2N3904 are just general purpose junk with widely variable gain and noise levels.
