What causes grainy sound

Dunno.....I do know it matters a lot to me.

The soundstage must be correct and focused, I find some recordings are just a mess when it comes to stereo imaging and nothing can be done but when it’s right it’s holographic.

One thing that’s interesting is I’ve never experienced mono recordings with such depth as I have since getting the stereo aspect in focus.

It is certainly nice to have, but for me it's way down the list. Like some impressive special effect.

I still remember the first time i heard speakers that could really do it. Audio Physic Spark. Must have been 20-25 years ago. Even though i have previously lived with electrostats, these little speakers shocked me with their imaging abilities. Yet, everything that mattered musically they did wrong.

No but one could measure both at once and note correlations.
One could. So you do acknowledge that what people hear and perceive are measurable.

Mark seems like someone who’s honestly trying to improve sq......where you oth are quite happy with the way things are apparently.
You are aware of some posters on this forum who are in audio business and their posting style which is to bolster their business, right?

What people hear certainly..... ‘How’ they perceive it seems to be the disconnect.
It’s above my pay grade!

I’m not sure why you get so wadded up about that? Even if it’s true or not.
Where did you get the idea that I'm wadded up about audio electronics and psychology? BTW, they are two separate fields. Some try to blur the line between the two for their business interest.

^this^

All I see is sharing of ideas and if there’s a little horn tootin involved about some new upcoming tech i’d consider it a insiders edge.
Other than speakers and room acoustics, what edge is there left to get in sound replaying technology?

Or may be it is just their honest views about audio, long before they have their business and they just carry those views, understandings and knowledge with them anywhere.
Maybe you are one of them and attempting to support their acts, a.k.a. circle the wagons.

I'm not in audio business, but to some extents I agree with some views and understandings. So, when I open an audio business, how could I change the views that I honestly believe?

But if I open an audio business, I will impress my customers with a bunch of measurements, just to show them that I know what I'm doing. As for the sound and how I can achieve the sound, I will keep it as a secret. I believe that this niche audiophiles have good ears so there is no need to tell them lies about how the amplifier even tho have bad measurement will sound so soulful because of some secret sauces. Just let them hear and they will know if they really have good ears.

How about market segment consisting of those who don't care with measurements but neither have good ears? I think I will pass that segment.

Maybe you are in audio business but say that you are not.
