Do you think the Display and knobs are required for the board listed below ? I don't really need the display. I was thinking of insert just the module inside the amp chassis and control its volume and bass.

Well given the part's a few quid, its not a cost-effective approach - surely someone does a simpler/smaller break-out board for this chip?
Probably not, but I can tell you from personal experience that a volume control with no indication of the volume level becomes very annoying very quickly, so that part I would definitely reconsider if I were you 🙂
