mosfets are way easier, can be driven straight off the output with a few resistors and zeners. I did this years ago in a car amp that went from +- 18v to +- 35v on demand.
andrew's schema has the predrivers switched as well, these should go to the high supply rail. My amp uses mosfets so it drives the output fets to the high rail.
