My Dac has two OP275 op amps that I''d like to upgrade to some thing better. What would be a nice drop in op-amp to replace these reliable buggers. Thanks.

OP275 replacement
Hi
I'd suggest you consider the Burr-Brown (TI) OPA2134. I use them as 1st choice in all new designs. Available in all the usual packages. Check them out on the TI website.

Hi,
I'm just trying out the OPA2132 in my CD player... very natural sound... much better than OPA2604. Like many do, and I have done now, why not fit a socket so you can audition different ones easily? It's a good move 🙂

John,
I will try that - thanks for the suggestion.
SimontY ,

It's a great idea. I will order the socket along with OPA2132. thanks.

Before I swap them in I just want to make sure that I can just plug and play the OPA2132 and OPA2134 in place of OP275 in my Audio Alchemy DAC V1.1 without any modification to the power supply, etc.... right.
Will put in an order for these op-amps tomorrow. Thanks.

Yup. They're pin compatible. If in doubt, look at the datasheet and make sure that everything lines up. I would go for the 2132 or maybe the AD726. Both of them sound pretty good (I have an AD726 in an Audio Alchemy DDE 1.0 that I just picked up off the trading post here, sounds pretty dang good and still goes for $7ish on Digikey).
I have tried op275gp and opa2134pa in a sony cdp-xb740qs over njm2114d standard, but with poor results. Then i have tried opa2132pa and the sound is much better, warmer and with smoother in the treble, if a tad veild ( BB op-amps sound character).
opa2143 is much drier than op2132, but better than opa2604.
All the best!

I used to love the OP275 far smoother and more musical than say a NE5532, i've tried a lot of different drop in replacements, and the AD825 is by far the best, but it only comes in SMD and it is a single not dual, so it needs 2 per channel on blackdog adapter boards. Go the extra yards for these you will never look back.

i tried a ad797(dual) on my midrange dac (800-4.5khz) replacing the op275G and there is too much treble , can you guys recomend one with smooth mids or should i leave the op275 instead ?
LME49710, really suitable for when you want to hear the truth. Superb. The version with HA suffix is in a metal can, is far more expensive, and sounds weightier like one would expect of a good discrete circuit.
