Ok. Thanks for the reply. I have some problems with my present dac that has to be figured out first but you might recive an order the coming days. Are the modules ready for shipping ?
We are now able to ship a set of modules (DAC8+PSU) within 3 days.
Can you hold one module for me till this evening, I left my visa card at home so I can't complete the buy ?
No, the DAC8 module has I2S/DSD/DoP inputs, SPDIF for stereo operation.

We are eventually going to rename our self-contained DAC products to avoid confusion. Substantial website update is coming soon.

Sure, no problem.
I can see you ordered without the OktoPSU power supply, please notice that DAC8 module needs three independent mutualy isolated voltages 15V, 15V and 5V generated using separate transformers or transformer windings.
Yes I know. I'm planning to use the pulsar clock as well. I'm planning to feed that from the 5v supply with a separate 3045 regulator if that's ok.
I've added border to the drawing. It now displays 1U high back panel with the DAC8 module mounted on a standard 8mm standoffs.

Excellent, thank you 🙂

I have both ballanced and unballanced amps so four out of six channels will need to be connected in this way, with
pin1 connected to the enclosure. Do you have a different recomendation ? I will be be using this dac together
with "Acourate" software and "Acourate convolver". In that software I have the ability to route for instance the
LP/right channel to two separate channels. If so is it ok to connect these two channels in parralell to the amps
without any other changes ? (I saw that there was a procedure for this for stereo/multichannel use). This would
of cource need an adapter cable at the dac's output. Or is it possible to do this onboard?

Do not short the pin 3 to ground, just leave it unconnected.
You can connect channels in parallell if they will be fed the same digital signal all the time. With a little bit of soldering (pin headers to their positions next to XLRs), you can do the connections onboard.

Did a drawing but it wouldnt load, except in preview. Well got it anyway, thanks.

- output voltage isn't limited by OPA1632 output swing or power rail voltage (+12V and -12V after on-board LT3045 super-regulators), it is just our choice of feedback resistors. It can be set to up to 7.9Vrms on request
I'd like to correct myself here - the maximum differential output voltage of the DAC8 module is 15.8Vrms. The 7.9Vrms value is the maximum for both hot and cold outputs, referenced to ground.
It is pretty simple for someone experienced in soldering and with proper tools (hot tweezers are the best for removing SMT components).
The procedure goes like this:
1) remove all 16 gain resistors (with hot tweezers if possible)
2) clean the pads with a fine solder wick
3) solder new resistors in place
The gain resistors need to be thin-film and as precise as it gets to achieve the lowest possible THD.

Hi Okto,
Will DAC8PRO be available with the DSP?
THD for both is at -125DB? Pro is supposed to have a slightly higher dynamic range right?

Hi dviswa,
we have a separate thread about our complete D/A converter units.
DAC8 launch and Tour announcement!
DAC8 PRO is an 8-channel D/A converter and preamplifier only, it is not available with a DSP. It's designed for those using PC-based crossovers or for a studio environment. DAC8 DSP is our only product containing a DSP. They both have the same analog performance (including the -125dB THD).
