on my right speaker. the 4" woofer has a quiet but noticable ticking noise if I play between 5hz to 40hz at medium to high excursion.
its not as bad now as it was when I first bought them. I'm wondering if it will eventually go away after enough usage? or if it will be a problem later?
I know the woofers are really cheap about 10$ on the website for a replacement but I want to know if I should wait to see if it'll go away or get worse before I buy a replacement woofer?
the left one is perfectly clean at all frequencies and volumes even at maximum excursion.
is it possible it just needs to be broken in for a while? they seem to be reasonably stiff woofers. could it be the spider making slight noise where a glue joint is?

From their catalogue listing:
The MK402 speakers offer incredible sound quality in an almost unbelievable size. The drivers used in this design play a large role in this small speaker. The 4" woofer is easily able to play to 60 Hz and still play into the vocal range impressively. The 3/4" tweeter is capable of producing effortless high frequencies with a wide dispersion. These two drivers, paired with our simple yet effective crossover, create a soundstage that is sure to awe even the harshest of critics.
So, you see they are advising you to only use this speaker system down to 60Hz. A 4 inch driver is NOT a woofer, contrary to popular belief.

I read from several other places the port is tuned to 50hz and they can play a fair bit lower than their rated frequency range. I could still hear good bass at 30hz. it just sounds better when I let the full frequency range through instead of cutting it off at 60hz. it sounds like a lot is missing if I apply a high pass cut off filter at 60hz. bass sounds lacking and dull so I just run them full range
if I play them at high volume I can still hear the ticking faintly at the port tuning frequency of 50hz if I put my ear a few inches to the speaker
i dont hear the ticking sound through the tweeter so its not part of the signal source or amplifier. and when i swap the speaker cables between both speakers it stays on the same speaker.
It seems to of stopped doing that now though. its much quieter after playing 30hz tone for an hour. speakers still stone cold not warm at all.
I think it fixed itself. but if the ticking comes back I might just get a replacement speaker driver and put it in since they are cheap. might make a simple 4" subwoofer box with the old speaker or something.

Excluding all other factors out of the equation, it remains reasonable to assume the driver itself is not up to specs. There is a special sine wave signal in Audiomatica Clio 4.51 to test the voice coil for any signs of rubbing, basically you can't hear anything but mechanical noise if there was one in the first place. The frequency of that signal is about 3 Hz.
Eh?So, you see they are advising you to only use this speaker system down to 60Hz.

That's what they say it will put out, not what they are advising you to put in, that would be silly 🙄

It's a 4 inch driver....go for it !
these have no problem from what ive seen playing down to 30hz since im fairly close to them in my sitting position they sound great. the only mechanical noise I hear is the slight ticking sound. but i think its gone away now. I think I will keep an eye on it in case it comes back. replacement speakers for this model are really cheap so I might even get a few.
if it says 60hz to 20khz am i supposed to apply a high pass filter to cut off below 60hz?? or do i just not play music that has frequencies below 60hz? does that even matter if im using them as full range speakers?
I just run the full signal through

Could be back of cone vibrating against coil to terminals wire I have had this before on a 4 inch long excursion mid woofer
I opened it up and just used a pair of plastic tweezers to bend the speaker leads to a better angle. they were vibrating against the cone and the spider. now it sounds perfect but i've probably voided any and every warranty by opening them.
I let them play for a while at medium excursion at 20 to 30hz and the problem has completely gone away
