Thanks for asking and finding out.
Sounds good to me, maybe a bit strident when she lays into it but that might be recording too.

"Closed box 65 litres, made from 21mm birch plywood. Crossover is 3ohm+3.3uF in series and 0.68mH in parallel for tweeter. And NO crossover for woofer."
Very interesting, sound way different at 50 seconds when close versus when further away. Baffle step. I noticed I had some 3" on an open baffle, sounded awesome and full about a foot away, further away you really lost bass. eh, just boost the bass on receiver or preamp and call it a day.

Frank, that's very nice i would love to hear that!
After hearing the cat378 with 5.6uf and an eminence b102 run wide open, i imagine the a26 would be even better, but you'd need to add resistance to the tweet and also change the cap value to keep the 4,700hz pole.
I will try that later with the cat378 tweeter- than I have an a/b comparison with my visaton waveguide.
In this russian hifi forum is an interesting thread about the a26 and cat 378.
Its a 0/93 devore clone...

With a lots of off and colloquialisms 😀Eek, big thread.
Random post googletranslated:
"Of the non-impregnated only vintage basoviki that on the secondary in Finnish acoustics go zanedorogo, in the same place and a dome and a pshchalka and the body in the kit. If in three bands, then why look unimpregnated, it will be cut off. A26 down does not play deep, - not very out of it 3 bands."
😱 😡 😀

Nice veneer. Check.
Skeptical angry cat. Check.
Maybe cats play a major role in making more musical hifi gear. Ever since I installed a cat in my house, both my amplifier and loudspeaker designs have gotten significantly better.

I will be very curious to see the wood discolorations now 🙂
It looks like liquidambar wood... isn't it ?
That looks like an Alnico magnet assembly. Definitely not an "Off the rack" Seas driver. (Rather light gauge interconnect cable.)

We used to have a cat once that loved to stretch its front arms out and use speakers as a scratching post to sharpen up its nails.
I would be interested in how you are mitigating against this.

I have a solution but cat lovers may not approve 😉

Audax TW034 would be a good tweeter to match to the A26. Troels G. uses it in a waveguide he designed as essentially a drop in for the high-end, very expensive SEAS tweeter.

The role of the boxes/damping/box materials in contributing to the overall acoustic of these types of speakers should not be overlooked. The drivers, crossovers and baffle size are only part of their sound.

Curiously, many diy designers with fancy designs never discuss what should go behind the driver. I use a hybrid of design and materials to attenuate the back wave. The back wave is the same energy as the front, yet hardly ever mentioned in a design. Theorized a lot, but never mentioned.
Her's another good Seas A26 and Morel Cat 378 design:

Hi.
have a look here for this design:
MAKAKO (2 vie, bass-relfex, 8 Ohm, 300 Wmax)
After registration you can download the measurement files to play with...
Best wishes.
