Currently using an Alps RK27 blue in a one in & one out box for my Quad 306. Started a new Passive with an interesting casing I found, which will have a 2 way input selector. I am user to use the same pot or try something different.
What have you tried with your Quad amps?
What would be an upgrade that will work with the Quad without going LDR?

the best answer IMO is the last word in your post,
Nothing wrong with Alps pot, I am just curious as to what else works well.
Would love to try LDR one day when I have more cash and time 😎
Seriously suggest one of those Inexpensive (~20$) Dact type stepped attenuator copies out of Hong Kong.
A notable improvement over the venerable Alps blu plastic box thing
Thanks Bare
I will give one a go, found some affordable ones

Finished Preamp at last. Very happy with the DACT type. So much cleaner than the alps, especially with my turntable. Slope isn't as steep as the alps but its not a problem to turn dial higher.
I used an old mono price data transfer box case, drilled an extra hole for a volume control and used perspex plate at back for RCA holes.
