Long story short, I have some new old stock Burr-Brown marked OPA 2604AUs that were being thrown away when the office relocated last year. They were purchased as samples, but never made it into any of our products, so I have no way of figuring out approximately when they were purchased. Is there any way of decoding the quite cryptic lot/batch no. "1AZPW"? I assume, due to the "BB" marking, that thet are either from before or just after TI acquired BB, but that's just an educated guess.

The last line contains year, month and lot code (YMLLL).
Therefore the year is either 2001 or 2011 and the month is october. You are not supposed to store the devices for more than a few years 😉

Thanks. 2001 seems most likely, as TI mentions "datecode 1227 or more recent" in their non conforming product report for the OPA2604.
I guess I'll have to test a few of them to 1) see if good old 63/37 SnPb will wet the pins, and 2) if they work as they should. They have been stored in unopened IC tubes in an ESD safe area (except for the one I took out for the picture in post #1), so I assume that they are still ok. I have 150 of them, so I'm not throwing them away if they work (and the solder sticks).

This does not mean that your code is "old-fashioned" and "1227" is a current form of the date code. Actually TI (and many other manufacturers) have stopped using a year-year-week-week date code on their devices a long time ago (around 2000).
