Wait, what? Wouldn't the nooks and crannies provide diffraction and be effective at preventing standing waves at certain or all frequencies? 😕

nooks and crannies .... they can help only in rigidity , but preventing standing waves ...... naah .....
just calc. wavelength , according to nooks dimensions ... even if you accept 10-fold bigger wavelength being dissipated across teeth , possible benefit is small , comparing to just one layer of proper volume dampening material
