The search for "GaN transistor" in parentheses turns out with no result:
"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms. "
Search without parentheses is useless. But as you see in the thread title
the phrase was used in the forum. "GaN" alone will give no result either.
What is going on ? Thanks.

Try Google "GaN transistor site:diyaudio.com". This uses Google's mighty powers (perhaps greater than DIYA's Google add-on) restricted to the site diyaudio.com

I have made search for my own thread about 6J1 tube and could never find it. Of course i tried all the variants...6j1, 6J1, '6J1', '6j1. Of course i was therefore not aware of other threads about 6j1 tube preamp.

Yes, three letter 'words' are not detected. We believe that will be different with the new platform.
Absolutely, ElasticSearch will let you search for even single characters (at least, it did when I tested another XF forum's elastic search). We'll definitely be supporting 2 character searches!
In the maentime it works if you put the short phrase in " " and the error message
