Hi,

i would like to build an open-baffle like the TROEL's OBL-15 with the Faital 15PR400.

For the mids/hights i would like to use a horn system with stereolab horn and my beloved Radian 950PB or the smaller motors 745NEO.

Therefore i need a x-over frequency of approx. 800Hz. I would rather go for bi-amping. (transistor=Bass, single ended tube amp=horn system)

Is the 15PR400 capable of crossing @ 800Hz in this OB setup?

More than capable, it is extremely clean up very high, but would not cross over higher than 1k for obvious reasons.

Wow, I've been looking for a CD that can handle midrange and treble - this Radian 950PB is the first that I have seen that can do this. At least it can, according to the spec.s. but it sounds like you are hsppy with this horn - I assume that you are not using a super tweeter high up?

Hi,

with the Radian 950PB: No super tweeter needed.

I beg to differ.
I used my 950pb in 3 config.

A- stand alone doing all of the treble
B- with a Super tweeter at 6khz and 24db filter between.
C- cut to 3k5 to a small 1inch CD and cut again to a Super tweeter at 12khz and gain using 24db filter between all 3.

A work ok till you hear B...
B sound much better and returning to A is impossible.
C sound realistic and make A sound like a toy...

Look at cessaro top line of horn speaker. They break those frequency too. Their Supertweeter is stated at 15khz...

C is the More complex to do but well worth the hassle.
