The first shop I have see to dont ship tubes overseas I have see was Upscale Audio
I confirm USPS have the only acceptable ship price in the USA sending to my country.
All the other freight companies prices cause a total infeasibility to buy in the USA due to the absurd freight prices, which here are taxed in 100% as if they were part of the product, I want to make it clear that even the price of insurance is taxed in 100 per cent here in the beautiful Brazil.
Not easy to be audiophile in the tropics.

Wrong..here in Germany filament types are still available at most DIY stores.
The prank April fool idea has a side point...Statistically how many households actually use a tube amp ? My guess, less than 0.001% . Hardly worth anyone getting wound up.

How many guitarists use a tube amp? 90%? 99%?

You're quite right regarding the popularity...(I get it wrong as always) ..but there's also the knock down the line to output transformer manufacturers too. That is my prime area. Once the generation talent has gone it's very hard to recoup it.

I believe that almost every country does include insurance and freight costs when collecting import taxes. It does make sense, if you think about it. It would be far too easy to dodge import taxes if they weren't. Actually there is a lower cost option to USPS, provided that the need is frequent enough to offset the setup cost: a forwarding service. There are countless of them, Shipito is the most advertised at this time, I believe. They do the exact same job that the GSP program should do, but with more options and without the silly ban on vacuum tubes. I wonder if someone here already tried it for vacuum-tube related shipments.

Yes, I agree. Even if there was a special dispensation for musicians, specialist manufacturers of "proper" hi-fi output transformers would be hit rather hard, as guitar amplifiers use/need pretty skimpy affairs.
A wind up.
"This ancient so-called technology is inherently unsafe and should be banned as soon as possible. It’s easy to electrocute yourself on these little things, and imagine if a child broke one and was sucked into its vacuum. It’s terrifying."
It so happens that Dutchman who started this thread, is probably a Tyros 5 lover and that belongs to the MI thread.

Physicists still do not understand the vacuum properly. Dark matter and virtual reality keep popping out of it! Putting a bunch of vacuum tubes together in close proximity could be -extremely- dangerous! A portal for aliens to invade the planet, abduct your children, and spy on us. This vacuum tube stuff is all a conspiracy. Destroy your equipment while you still can. It may be too late! Some DIYers are already being crowded out of house and home by piles of boxes of tubes. (PS: send the best tubes over to me for proper disposal! And our new "genius" tax credits.)
That guy in Hawaii yesterday was listening to a SET amp when he pressed the "wrong" button. His reality was distorted by 2nd harmonic distortion. Just think what could happen when some other genius presses the "wrong" button!
No, I'm not paranoid.

That will be all right as long as he said "Oops" correctly.
All those people that got pulled out of drainage culverts and sewers yesterday... Well now, we all learn from those little mistakes.
Gives me an idea. A shock wave can't travel through vacuum, right. So lets dump truckloads of vacuum tubes over every house. Sucks any shockwave right up. Yeah, we need to stop exporting all those vacuum tubes, we need them right here.
Now physicists have managed to compress light already, so we need to have them work on compressing vacuum too. Or would that be "anti-vacuum"? Instead of sirens on every telephone pole, we could put tanks of compressed vacuum, triggered to release in any shock wave.
Get good enough at that, and it could be weaponized. Ballistic missiles that suck whole cities up. We could clean up oil spills instantly. Got a CO2 problem? Just put a selective filter over some vacuum bottles. Vacuum grenades for the mailman to ward off pit-bulls. Deodorize public bathrooms instantly. On and on. I never realized how valuable absolutely "nothing" could be. Stop those tube exports!

Then what about the 2009 news:
Getting Around the EU Ban: Germans Hoarding Traditional Light Bulbs - SPIEGEL ONLINE
we are talking house and shop lighting here, not 5W sewing machine or fridge nor car bulbs.
Now if you call incandescent the still legal quartz halogen lamps, please say so clearly.
She would simply use The Force to propel herself though the vacuum to safety apparently."imagine if a child broke one and was sucked into its vacuum. It’s terrifying."

Off topic of course, but
That part of the movie really made me go "come on, really?"
I never hoarded incandescents.
After I used the first energy saver bulb I noticed with joy that they take some time to get up to full brightness and immediately replaced every incandescent bulb because there are few things in daily life as annoying as walking into a dark room, switching on the light and being temporarily blinded by the full brightness of the light.

I think there is nothing more annoying than sitting under a light source that isn't 100 CRI. Even the 96 CRI LED's I've started using really bother me.. And the flickering.. I can clearly see even the ~400hz PWM frequency that is unfortunately so popular. Turning my head is like being at a disco.... (Looking straight at things I don't notice the flicker, but out the corner of my eyes or when moving I do).
LOL.
Just abundant 2nd order harmonic distortion and fullranges.
Relatively easy to obtain and legal (still).
