Hi all,
This topic has already been widely discussed in the forum!
And you will tell me that the configuration of the equipment depends mainly on our personal taste, the room where the equipment will be set up, the style of music .... ect
But I'm about to finish my M2 clone , I need to change my old speakers and personally I'm not sure which type and characteristics of speakers to choose! Sensitivity? efficiency ?
So I this thread would be very helpful for me and probably for others.

since FW-amps are all the lower wattage type (<25W/8R), I wouldn't go below 90dB though my F5 managed my NEAT Continentals or even Magnepan SMGAs quite well but lacking headroom.
If I had purse and room I'd go for e.g. ZU Speakers.
M2 still under construction - more next year.

considering that you're on this side of Pond , you can't go wrong with proper pair of 15" Tannoys
or 12" , if you're cheapskate ( as Mighty Moi, generally )

Hi,
My idea was to go for something like that:
Super Alnico Monitor
– Omega Speaker Systems
REVOLUTION XT 6F-GW | Lifestyle Speakers | Loudspeaker Systems | Tannoy | Categories | TANNOY
http://images.klipsch.com/RF5_635042119173700000.pdf
Probably i should reconsider it!
But 12 or 15" speakers are not the same price !
what about something like that , does it still worth it? :
Tannoy Super Red Monitor 15" single Speaker Very Rare Vintage Classic (R) | eBay
Tannoy Berkeley HPD 385's the legendary 15" dual concentric - Floor Standing Speakers | HiFi In Touch
Maybe some vintage like that with good restauration would be in my budget!

ebay prices are usually steep ....... sometimes you can find something cheaper (read :sane) but rarely
point of my previous post wasn't exactly in Tannoy , but in fact that you may reconsider speaker size ....... so , sensitivity and efficiency are the things
first try to listen , say Tannoys , somewhere and form own opinion
when you have idea what you like , be back and we can talk more specifically

All I can add is that I am running my M2 into a pair of Klipsch KG 5.5's, and I love it. Sure they're not the cleanest, or best, or what have you, but what's important is they keep me happy. Though I have had my eyes on some Zu's...

Fostex FE168E Sigmas in a TQWP. I have been testing the M2 Output stage with a different drive circuit and found the combination very good.
Hi all,
Thank for all these feedback,
Zu speakers are very tempting as well as the Enzo ones , but might be difficult to get in Europe , in order to avoid the nice 24% of import tax, but let’s see , I will dig on the web to find resellers !
I Was recently looking at the klipsch RF-5! but after reading about the audioNote, the Troels... the specs as well as for the design, these type of speakers are clearly the direction I should take!
I really like this vintage style, pure lines!
Already exited for this day when I will bring my M2 to this nice shop downtown, in order to try these nice speakers!

I had a pair of Tekton Lore's. Fun speakers. 🙂
I'd take Tekton's efficiency specs with a pinch of salt.

Hello, Zu seller link here:
Audioshop Ratilainen
I'd say you can use pretty much any speaker unless it is especially inefficient.
25W is roughly 100 dB with a 87 dB @ 1W. 100 dB is a lot.

I wouldn't recommend using speakers below 90dB. They will play, of course, and loud as well, but you will realise what you're missing after trying some really efficient speakers.
Just my opinion...

Yes, I did. I hemmed and hawed and finally bought a set of the Tekton Enzos. Couldnt be more pleased. See my link one or two posts up.
