Zeck PT7 and some general questions about PA...

Hello,
Yesterday I bought Zeck PT7 power amplifier for dirt cheap (it was backup amplifier, than seller bought active system...).

First I would like to ask about opinions on this amp, brand. I didn`t heard for this brand before. Seller claimed that this is a real quality amplifier, nothing like behringer and other cheap brands... well it weights 21kg.

I don`t have a chance to fully test it, because I don`t have big speakers yet. I hooked up my Pioneer CS-770 100w hifi speakers.

Now question about input source for this bad boy.
When we connected phone as input source it was way too silent, seller said that I will need something that gives higher output, so we connected MD5 hifi player and it was twice as loud, but still not enought.

I asked him if I will need preamp, but he said that all I need is a small mixer, he said that small 2ch mixer for 50eur should be ok.
Is this true or do I need preamp?
I know for sure that input is not high enought because it has signal indicator leds that blink to bass, and at half of volume they are blinking just a little (very dim).

Will cheap mixer (for like 50eur new) affect the sound quality?

I would also like to ask if figures on datasheet are RMS or total output power?
As far as I know this is RMS because it`s measured at 1khz and not on all frequencies at the same time? is this is or am I wrong?

Another thing is balanced xlr input vs unbalanced phono input...
is it realy worth getting xlr for short distance... like up to 5m?
thank you for help 🙂
