I just learned about them at Madisound. That is in fact a great deal of mullah. Given the flash, I'm curious if they are specifically for car installations.
If the speakers are all that you'd think they would have provided better specs. The specs aren't bad, but if they are great sounding you would have wanted to see more to justify the price tag. Hopefully some bored individual will try them out.

Not car-specific at all. Holey-Mg cones with absorbent blips to breakup the cone modes, and an orange-juicer phase plug. I question the exits of the core-periphery gap ventilation being spiraled, and the lack of copper in the gap.
Lots of smoothing on the FR plots, and the price is likely due to materials, production methods, and tolerances.

In general, I'm a big fan of composites and interrupting resonance waves in cone design so the manufacturing idea (if not the colors) has merit. It's just that the flashy magnet covers make me wonder where they plan on putting them.
Maybe in a Crystal Cable-like transparent speaker?
I also get that more exotic manufacturing is more expensive. Just no idea as to the final value. Maybe they sound like 3" full rangers. I don't know.

I looked them a few days ago, would be interested to hear a raw midwoofer but they look like a driver with low price/performance ratio. If Eton want to send me a free one to test and hear, fine, but would never spend the money they ask for when I can buy drivers that, at least, I find better on paper, like the Satori line or the Revelator range.

Of course, the cynic in me wonders if they aren't priced high just so manufacturers can sell speakers using them for more money. There's a pretty standard mark up based on driver costs. If I make a speaker with 4 of those beauties in them, then I can charge $56,000 per pair and not worry about them showing up in a competitor's $1,000 pair of speakers.
The truth is that sound quality is but a small part of pricing strategy.
Or, these speakers may be super good also. I have no idea.

Or just the regular paper cone SB17 which actually appears to be a better driver and is 50% cheaper again. The carbon one appears to have a resonance issue at 1.5kHz, and the breakup is a few dB more severe. It does look pretty though!
A year on, has anyone used the smaller versions of Orchestra/Symphony/Arcosia?

The two that caught my eye were the 4" Orchestra and Symphony, both with phase plugs. The latter is meant more for mid duties and the impedance spike is alot less. Anyone know what differences there are in the motor?

Found a test of the Eton 3" MG ie the one that looks like they used a sherbet UFO for the dustcap.

So with that in mind I will probably go for this brand new 3" Eton, which use a similar chassis, magnet and hopefully similar spec motor. No graphs as yet, so taking a chance. But the 4" measures well.
