Has been for decades.

YouTube

So you confuse a comedy skit with reality.

And AI continues to get better.

My browser history shows just how often I take advantage of it. Most often is ordering from McMaster Carr. Used to be a telephone call and catalog, now a very well developed website that continues to improve.

Amazon bought one of my small suppliers. Even having the part numbers and description I can no longer find the parts.

So a few clicks on a smart site gets me to obscure parts I pretty much never knew existed and pages of nonsense on another waste my time. Good AI is the difference.

Coming back from lunch an Uber car was in front of me. Followed all the laws and stopped at stop signs, properly used the turn signals and actually drove much better than another car that was sharing the road. It stopped at random spots, varied speed for no apparent reason and turned off missing a stop sign and weaving to the side first.

For those who have never seen an AI (Artificial Intelligence) Uber.

On the path onto autonomous driving cars we already have self-breaking cars in case of a emergency situation, just one thing I don't understand is, why have the engineers programmed the cars to break in the very last moment and get to a full stop only a footstep away from the obstacle, is it a game to make a car come as close as possible without touching the obstacle??
How about winter conditions one would ask, no problem, the engineers would say "we can detect temperatures", then how about this.............
Chain-Reaction Crash With Minor Injuries, Except for the Slime Eels - The New York Times
...or a wet autumn road covered full of slippery fermented leaves?
I haven't checked thoroughly, but so far I haven't seen any video demonstration from any car maker that takes these kinds of situation into account, it's always on a perfect dry pavement paired with that silly "who can get closest to the obstacle without touching it" game.

It can't go passed a Primanti's without putting fries on an otherwise decent sandwich, and the engine stalls whenever Ben Rothlisberger's name is mentioned as the crying towel gets caught in the exhaust.

Looks like you will send a few folks to Wikipedia for the Primanti's reference.
Way back I did what was then the Jake. I know a few bits of hidden dirt.

Never eat the hot dogs at the first two football games of the year or until after the first quarter. They save the leftovers after the game.

But for more fun look at the special Heinz hot dog sauce for Chicago.

The original Heinz house and plant were 10 blocks from my shop.

Now what this has to do with the topic here is beyond me. So another shot of the Uber.

As if there is only one software system running.

I didn't see enough information to make any conclusion one way or the other. Another good one, stopping for a school bus loading or unloading. We have private drivers here that do not have the pop-out stop signs just red lights and the markings are not always obvious. The other side of this, a school bus pulled over on the freeway and popped out the stop sign and a woman immediately slammed on her brakes jack-knifing a logging truck behind her. IIRC there were fatalities.

When you have a failure, then the software can be modified and all users updated. Doesn't work that way for humans.

Some of the initial software in winter mistook a tree for the road... Doesn't do that anymore.
