New York Dave's Passive Summing Mixer - Mute Switch

Hi,
I'm building a passive summing box, and I need some advice, because i have little experience in dealing with electronics.

It is a stereo bus, and I have connected all the inputs and outputs together with a pin 1 (ground).

My question is, can I ground the wire, connecting all the pins together, to the chassis...? What would be the best way to ground them and reduce noise?

Get an alligator clip lead. Try with and without your chassis connection. There's FAR too many unknowns in your post to hazard a guess. Even my own work, try-and-see is often my best path. Especially with a "simple" thing like one bond wire.

Of course it has resistors 🙂 only I have not started putting them yet..

Of course it has resistors 🙂 My workflow was to connect all the grounds, and then do the rest.

Only without the mute buttons and assign switches...

Hi, i'm building an 8ch passive summing buss based on the design of New York Dave.

My question is concerning the mute switch... In the original design a DPDT switch is put, but I can't figure out why. In my own diagram, I put DPST - NO switch connected to both Tip and Ring pins. Can you tell if DPST will work properly the way i drew it and if my schematics make sense?

Though I was seeing double double.

The mute will mute; but the mix-loss changes with number of inputs disconnected.

You would usually short or near-short unused inputs to preserve loss.

Is that why New York Dave used DPDT switches in his schematics? To short the inputs..? Or he just ignored that "rule"
