In Ear Monitor System Before Mixer

Is it possible to connect a wireless in ear monitor system in line before heading to the mixer? I only need to hear one audio source (my wireless microphone), not a mix. (Everything else I can hear thru the floor wedges) Could I connect microphone to in ears and loop out to the mixer input or do the in ear monitors have to go thru the mixer first?

Wireless Microphone > In Ear System > Mixing Board Input

The reason is we play a lot of local clubs and instead of dealing with the hassle of setting up and having to figure out the monitor mix and disconnecting and connecting already set up cables. Especially when there are multiple bands playing. I figured it'd be easier, just need to know if it's possible.

Thanks for any input.

If you have a pre amplifier in line with the microphone you can take off a signal, that is why we use a mixer first.

The wireless microphones DO have a preamp!

@Sonnyv727: The Rolls PM 55P (or other personal mixers) does exactly what you want. You can put it between the mic and the mixer console, you need just an additional Y-cable for the output to the monitor in. The PM 55P also includes a limiter, phantom power (not needed in your case) and switchable ground lift.

I mean can the In Ear System come before the mixer? Or does it have to go thru the mixer first.

I'm only trying to hear that one microphone thru the in ear system.

What Jon Snell said on answer #2: use the insert jack in the channel in the main mixer which handles *your* microphone only.

It´s still just that up to that point, before it mixes with all others.

No reason to make it more complicated than that if your in ear system transmitter has a loop out and only need to transmit your voice.

The only thing I'd check is to make sure the loop out volume isn't affected by controls on the in ear system transmitter. But that's unlikely.

Not to say that taking the signal from an insert, etc aren't valid solutions. Just not necessary. It depends a lot on your configuration (is the mixer near or far away of the stage, where do you keep your wireless emitters/transmitters, how many channels are in use on your snake, etc.).
