There is no way of speeding the customs. Also it is not that they do it with all the packages, just some of them and I belive there is no key, just random. Typically every 20 or 30 packages I ship to US one is delayed like this. Sometimes a week sometimes 2 weeks but for example last time (X-mass time) one took 5 weeks to arrive so at least 3-3,5 weeks spent at customs, otherwise they would be seen in tracking on either site. Right now during thr summer I ship packages from Germany and I must say it works much better and faster, but Deutche Post unlike other posts has real time tracking in US Post. Polish post does not have it. Lately US Post even stopped to support under 2kg small percels from Poland, they are not visible at all. I doubt there is any way of speeding customs in US. I belive they have some mess and problems there as this is the only country in the world doing it. At least I know about but I really ship worldwide. One more thing is the packages almost never disappear just like that or get lost. During over 10 years of shipping 1 to 5 packages a day I have had maybe two real cases. Both in europe I belive. Royal Mail for example has huge mess and very often packages get back as sometimes postmans don't even leave the notice there is the package for someone when he is not home.
And here is result of our post they are saying package is forwarded to Usa and i am sure it went Usa months ago

"Original post is preparing the package" is a typical message at US Post. Sounds like the package has not been posted from original country but it is not true. It means they see in the system that such package has been posted and exist they just still don't know where it is in their system. If it wasn't posted one would get the message " there is no such record"
And as far as I know the customs is the first step once the package leaves the plane in US and this step does not belong to post meaning no one there will enter or confirm the number into the post system, it's customs the gorverment facility not belonging to post.

Also people open the ebay cases and system blocks the amount on your PayPal but the people don't get refunded before the case is closed and it can't be closed without your permision and you can supply the tracking info from Turkey post and keep the case open untill the package shows up somewhere. It can be open for 60 or 90 days I don't remember and in the end if the tracking will show it has been delivered the buyer will not get refunded and the money will be unblock on your PayPal. This applies only if the Turkey packages are visible in US Post tracking. The packages of some of the countries are not visible in US tracking at all.
At below it says it is forwarded to destination country. It is in Usa but waiting to be scanned by Usps.Because it is waiting in customs shelves. The link says it's preparing to leave Turkey, but not gone yet.

Yes i appeal to ebay cases after ebay closes cases and refund to buyer and payment is on hold againAlso people open the ebay cases and system blocks the amount on your PayPal but the people don't get refunded before the case is closed and it can't be closed without your permision and you can supply the tracking info from Turkey post and keep the case open untill the package shows up somewhere. It may or may not be the case. It all depends how the Turkey post works. It may not show the actual point where it left the Turkey. It's all complicated and depends if two countries have agreement about real time tracking. They very rarely do or have the agreements only for some type of shipping services like express mail for example. Regardless of the agreements in the internet era most registered packages in the world are visible in the system, it is just that the actual post does not have to register each step of such package if they don't have specific agreement with the other country and indeed some just don't do it, but most do.
Once paypal blocked money after a Russian customer opened case on paypal and it was surprisingly blocked for about 4.5 months and package finally arrived to customer and i got the money. As i remember i shipped parcel in 3 days but it waited in Russia customs for about 4 months

This is why it is very important to put the custom declarations on the packages like CN22.
It does not matter if it's true to the value of the item inside or not, if there is one and sounds good then it speeds up the thing. Not in US customs though. But I belive for many countries it is helpful. If they don't know what's inside and what's the value they don't know what to do with it and put it on the shelf.

It's very puzzling because I get packages from the China, H.K., the U.K., Ukraine, and Russia and all of these packages have gotten to me in a timely fashion. Stuff from Ukraine and Russia take a bit longer but nothing has ever been lost or delayed. No duty.
Stuff from Canada usually, but not always comes pretty quickly. One item from Canada took 9 months to get here, and there was a note from Canada Post that they screwed up.. lol I had completely forgotten about that order.

You are most probably the typical customer. You are not getting 2-3 or 5 packages a day so you just never got one that has been delayed so far.

I always use customs declaration paper. In the past ( about 5 years ago) when i was not using this, there has been 1-2 problems(one of them was Germany ) they required this customs paper and customer did not want to go to customs and pay money. Then the package turned me back. There was no problem in USA about customs paper. However i always use it in all countries for about 4,5 years. What is customs limit in USA for not paying a tax?In Turkey it was 150 Euros in the past and they dropped it to 75 Euros a few years ago and now it is 35 Euros.
Yes it is not the case.Usps customs should improve its service and should get faster. This long wait can not be accepted. My mails which i sent on december 2 just on the way and will arrive to the customers next week.Almost 50 days customs waiting.I can not explain it to the customers. They say it is bad service of me(it is already air mail of 5-10 usd costs,i can not send it via Ems or Fedex Dhl at this price and they should understand). My mails goes Uk in 1-2 weeks and go to another countries in 2-3 weeks max.Usps customs just Horrible, terrible

Certainly not an every day occurrence but since I design and build high end audio equipment to order as a sideline to my main gig in medical electronics I average something like 20 - 30 packages a month when I am busy. Usually they come in bursts as I tend to order large quantities of materials in cycles. So, no I'm not typical.

You misunderstand, USPS and US Customs are separate organizations. US Customs has authority over all persons and goods entering the USA and USPS has no involvement in their activities. USPS has no role until US Customs releases inbound packages to USPS.

So you just have been lucky so far. As said I ship 1 to 3-5 packages a day most often. There is rarely a day in a week when I don't ship any package. US is where most of my sell goes, maybe 50 to 70% the rest being split to other countries worldwide. These are not audio product I sell. Usually this kind of delay happens an average of once a month so not that very often.
And yes it is quite tough situation when it happens becouse an average customers don't understand it's not my foult neither the post's. And as I said USA is the only country where it happens in my expirence. Sure sometimes there are some long delays to the countries like China or Indonesia, very rare though and I doubt they are customs related but mostly to post.

I have been selling vacuum tube audio related PC boards for over 10 years, and various other electronics related items for over 40 years. The USPS has only lost a small number of items (average 1 a year). I have had no issues sending boards all over the world via the USPS, but once it's off US soil it's in the hands of the commercial air or sea shipping agent (usually a commercial passenger flight) and then the local post office of the destination country.
Most countries have their own customs service, and some of them are quite strict about collecting duties, tariffs, or VAT, some aren't.
There are also some countries where the post office, or customs people are corrupt, and your package never reaches the intended recipient, the contents are missing, or a "ransom" is demanded from the recipient. I have had 1 out of 3 packages reach the destination in Italy, and 0 out of 2 in Russia, so I no longer ship to those countries.
Now, how many of us have had packages totally destroyed by UPS?
I just received an 80 pound Hewlett Packard RF signal generator. It looks like one very big guy, or two normal people threw the box onto a truck, or dropped it onto something that punctured the box, the internal packaging, the generator's front panel (plastic covered aluminum), the PC board, and dented the metal panel behind that. The rare glass VFD was destroyed. I took the box, as received to the local UPS office. Their reply, it wasn't packaged correctly for its weight. It should have been crated.
