Usually I don't connect to mysqueezebox.com, but I tried it for you in order to check if it still works. I needed to reset my password (I could not remember it from last time), but it works for me. Perhaps you experienced a temporary unavailabilty? Try to log on on the mysqueezebox.com page in order to see if that works. If so, try from Daphile again.
Still not working. Not sure why. I go on the squeezebox site and it shows there's no player devices. When I put my password in Daphile, it goes blank after. Is this normal?
I'm a total noob with Daphile, although I used VortexBox several years ago. I have many Squeezebox players (Touch, Boom, Duets, piCoreplayers, etc) and have about 10,000 FLAC tracks in my library.
I wanted to create a portable music system I could take to a friend's place and stream my music using their audio setup. I decided to try Daphile on a 6-year old netbook (Asus 1201N, 2GB RAM, new 512GB SSD, Atom 330 CPU).
As much as I wanted to be optimistic about Daphile, here are my discoveries after a day of attempts:
1. My built-in WiFi wasn't supported, so I tried an Edimax N150 for the initial setup. It worked when I ran from USB, but once I installed Daphile onto my SSD and rebooted, it can't connect to my home network via WiFi. I noticed the "Daphile" SSID, so tried to connect to that, but got an authentication error. Triple checked configuration, still doesn't authenticate. So why would it work when running from USB but not from my SSD??
2. My music library is stored in several places, including a 512GB portable SSD via USB. I tried to copy my music from USB to the SSD, but got the dreaded "JSON" error. I then used Windows Explorer and tried to copy remotely from the shared volumes, but each time I did so Daphile eventually hung.
3. If I could manage to resolve the problems above, I would like to synchronize my Daphile SSD with my main music library. I normally use Microsoft's SynchToy for this. I suppose I could use SynchToy using remote mappings from my PC, but I'm wondering if there's a better way. It would be cool if Daphile had a tool to update it's local library from a remote one.
Has anyone had success with Daphile on a similar platform? Is there an obvious bottleneck (RAM, CPU?) somewhere I'm not aware of?
It would be great to make this work, grateful for any wisdom anyone could offer.

Have you tried the latest betas Index of /firmware/beta
Thanks for the suggestion; I tried the latest build, still the same issues with WiFi, but the copy/paste has improved. No more JSON errors, but if I attempt to copy a large amount of music, I get HTTP 431 errors.
Has anyone got this working on a HP Thin Client
Has anyone gotten Daphile to work on an HP Thin Client? I've spent more hours than I'll admit trying to get this to install on a T5740, but cannot get past a black screen when the BIOS loads from the flash drive. I've searched forum after forum, went through the installation instructions and FAQs trying every suggestion. Anyone have any suggestions?

You must install 32-bit version.. working without problems few years..Has anyone gotten Daphile to work on an HP Thin Client? I've spent more hours than I'll admit trying to get this to install on a T5740, but cannot get past a black screen when the BIOS loads from the flash drive..

Thanks for the reply! Yep, I was working with the 16.07-i486 iso. I think I accidentally used the x64 version when first trying and it gave me a message that I needed to use the 32 bit version. That's the only time I've seen anything on the screen. I've tried using unet, rufus, and Universal USB Installer for creating the Live USB drive, but always get the black startup screen. Tried modifying the startup to use nomodeset, no difference. The most frustrating thing about this is I can't find a log file or anything to give any indication about what is wrong.

Your response gave me an idea... I went back and tried to install a version that was a few years old (14.10), and it works fine! Thanks for your help!
Your reply let me think again.. friend have same problem with HP T5740, Daphile works fine but only older versions.. I use same model few years ago, 32-bit version works perfectly then.. I think that problem begin with version from this year, try some newer than 14.10..
Hi. Based on suggestion at here, I am using Mp3tag and able to re-tag those albums with "unkown albulm artist / unkown album" issue. However, although album artists and albums show correctly but I can't add the album nor the individual songs into the playlist. If I click play button on individual song, it plays but it doesn't display in the playlist and no delete playlist button available. How to solve the problem?
I found out the workaround for the can't-add-to-playlist issue, is to recreate the folder for artist and also its sub folder for album title which my folder structure is arranged like album_artist/album_title. Then I cut and move all the music files from original folder to the new created folder, after that I deleted the original folder.
I done all this in File Manager of Daphile. After this then I am able to add the album into the playlist. I think may be it has to do with the folder access right permission settings.
Does anyone know the solution?

Folks:
I have an odd question which may have nothing whatsoever to do with Daphile. I have 6 CDs by the band R.E.M. which have been ripped to both of my servers running Daphile and my WD My Cloud (which is being used for off-line storage). All 6 CDs show up properly and will play in Daphile, but none of the R.E.M. discs or songs show up when I look in the R.E.M. folder using Finder on my Mac. In fact, Finder shows the folder titled "R.E.M." but not any of the sub-folders (i.e., the CDs) or, naturally, the songs on those CDs. Additionally, searching using the Mac's Finder application fails to locate any R.E.M. songs on either of the servers or the My Cloud.
The music shows up on Daphile but not on a Mac. I haven't looked to see if this problem exists for other artists.
Can anyone shed any light on this weirdness?
Regards,
Scott
p.s.: I'm still having a problem turning "genres" back on. Does anyone know how to rescan a music library to add genre information to albums? I previously enjoyed selecting particular genres for "Random Mix" but now get everything since the genre information does not seem to be stored.

I've ripped REM CDs and they are filed as "REM", not "R.E.M.", in Daphile.

Where can I configure the dhcp client request timeout on the ethernet interface?
My local network has a pretty slow dhcp server and I need to increase the timeout value.

Tromperie:
Uhmm, nope, not in my case. The band shows up as "R.E.M." There is nothing between "The_Red_Elvises" and "Rickie_Lee_Jones" in my Daphile music library. But that really doesn't answer the question I asked: why can't I locate any of their albums or songs in Finder on my Mac?

Has any one configured dalphile to output in USB 2 format, as a friend of mine has a NAD dac which he wants to try this music server with. I think I remember there's an issue with Linux and USB 2, but I'm not sure.

I am not aware of any USB 2.0 issues with Daphile. If you are insure then try the latest Linux 4.8.15 version (see 16.12-b17104). It is more efficient than the previous versions and is more stable re recognition and support of USB DACs, especially when processing PCM to DSD. When in Daphile go to "settings", then change the URL to \\daphile\cgi-bin\Devel
If you have labeled your device other than "daphile" then use that
Scroll down to see the Install line. Paste the required ISO install and process accordingly.
The beta versions can be found here ..
