hi,

i found behringer ecm8000,is it any good for speaker measurments? if something else better please recomend.

it will also be used for setting up pa systems from time to time.

already ordered behringer xenyx 2442fx mixer which will be used as mic pre(when not in use elswhere ofc)

still not sure to buy finished soundcard for recording or make my own.
please suggest few good adc chips for simple usb implementation, and think it is better than buying finished soundcard for this use.

thank you.

wow you read mind, answer before i ask 😀.
was looking superlux ecm999 minute ago at my shop and it is half price of behringer ecm8000, if you say it is better i buy two superlux then for same price 😀
that ubik one is direct usb so i wil probably skip that, was also looking at a little more expensive dbx RTA-M,but i will probably go with superlux.

thank you very much on fast help.

If you are setup for it calibration is pretty quick. It takes more time to mount and dismount the mike than to take the measurement with current software. There is real cost to getting a calibration reference and to understanding/removing uncertainties but for this relative flatness to 20 KHz is about all that can be expected.

If you are talking about the UMIK 1, it's SPL calibration. All of the others have a frequency calibration file, I think.

@ tonitonitoni:

From these four, I would choose the cheapest one, as these are virtually identical. And that is probably the Superlux.

Received superlux ecm999 as You suggested, still need to instal some software but for starters i used rightmark aa.
This is measurment of Scythe kro craft speakers in my workplace which is not treated acousticaly and is very weird sounding by itself.

I don't know your speakers. That graph looks like I would expect from smaller bookshelf speakers. It looks good. I've seen far worse 😀

Now you can start testing moving the speakers around. And treating the room. First place to look, is up...

Rightmark is not really correct for speakers except in an anechoic chamber. In a normal room it will get all the reflections and resonances stirred into the speakers signal so what the microphone will hear does not reflect (bad pun) on what you will hear. ARTA is much better suited to speaker measurements since it can separate some of the reflected energy from the direct energy.
