How Good Is This Amp(Sound Luster)

I have this amp and it dosen't sound very good, beats solid states and has some tube sound in it, but it dosen't beat my custom modded solid state amp. I wounder how good this amp is, as it isn't sounding better than my custom modded amp(sound is not clear with comparison to my modded solid state)

What do you guys think of the sound luster?

The usual problem.
What is the build quality and design like? A bad design is flawed from the start.
What is the valve quality? Chinese valves can be of mixed quality affecting the sound.
What is the quality of the transformers? Again a very big unknown.
KT 100, picked for max output, possibly not max quality?

So the circuit it's self dosen't make a big diffrence? Good vs Bad.

More improtant is the tubes them selvs and transformors right?
I have some 6n4 chinese nos tubes, they sounded better than my 12ax7 gold lion tubes, but others chinese tube like 12ax7a sounded worse than gold lion, so i reckon chinese tubes can have ok quality. (12ax7 used in my tube pre amp)

The transofmors seems average and tubes are unkown, the outputs kt 88 are high qulaity chinese tubes though, I don't know the circuit my self nor seen a diagram of the circuit, My dad used this amp and not sure if he had used it for long enough that all tubes are burn't in.

I was just woundering if someone in the forms have this amp and could give theire opnion on how good this amp is.

The circuit is very important, as well as the quality of every component in the amplifier, including output and power transformers, chokes, power supply and coupling capacitors, rectifiers, resistors, wires, chassis material, connectors and tubes.

A bad circuit will not be much worthy of high grade components.
A good circuit will be a waste with low grade components.

I cannot tell you how this amplifier exactly sounds, but judging from the cost, I don't expect high fidelity sound. A good amplifier takes a lot of skill, know-how and cost to build (no matter if it's tube or SS based).
I bet you can build something better by DIYing!

Thanks for your input :D

What sort of solid state, circuit, is your amp?
Which speskers, sources ...-?

I am using a single 15 inch without tweeters and listening to only mono(I have a full range 8 Inch which I dumped in my scrap room). Sources are music, lossless and non lossless and stuff I listen to all the time, pretty much once or few times a day.

Circuit is two mosfet diffrential inputs, two pnp and two npn drivers 1tip41 and tip3055 driver, duall 50 volts and 12watts of idle power and has a peak output of more than 40 watts, has 152 800 UF capctitance for voltage regulation, I had brought some to92 heat sinks and better drivers today and going to boost the idle current further. Circuit has been fully fine tuned and setted up, and has copper conductors added onto pcb to lower reistance. (I don't think 152 800 uf is over kill because sound quality had improved from just 80 000 to 152 800 uf)

Looks like another of those Chinese "pre-built kits". A decent base that screams to be modified.

dave

This means that this amp is quite average in quailty?

I would only suggest buying a valve amplifier from China if
You have the skill and equipment to check that every component is working correctly and within spec.
That all voltages are where they should be for safe working.
They are well known for fitting minimum or below spec parts that fail under working voltage.
I and many others have had these amps go up in flames.
It is not a pretty sight and you will get no manufacturers support.
