The title says it all. I am looking for a woofer that offers an fs of 15 Hz or lower. As I am more familiar with 21, 18, in addition to, 15 inch drivers and know no such thing exist, possibly those who are familiar with small drivers can offer some model numbers, links, what have you of woofers that offer an fs of 15 Hz or lower.

With the amount home audio guys on this forum, this should be easy on your behalf.

Hi,

No such thing exists because its a very bad idea generally.

(Drivers need suspensions to keep them in check.)

Details of the required application are needed to work out
if such a goal makes any sense at all for the needed job.

rgds, sreten.

Providing the power is minimum, there will be no issues with suspensions.

Feel free to offer some models and I will be happy to give you more details.

18 or 19 hz fs isn't that uncommon, it wouldn't take too much weight to get that down to 15. And adding weight to the cone is likely how a manufacturer would get fs down to a target goal so what's wrong with adding weight if you NEED 15 hz?

But as sreten points out, it's not usually a really good idea. You need a huge motor or qts will be high and sensitivity will be low.

If you don't want to explain what you are doing that's fine but don't expect much help in that case. The simple fact is that you won't find many drivers with fs of 15 or under because it's simply not a good idea.

For example, around avs forum people are getting flat in room response to single digit frequencies at spl upwards of 140 db using (multiple) "regular" drivers (usually with eq) with fs closer to 20 hz. If there was any need for 15 hz fs drivers there would be a market for them.

Honestly, I have not gotten any suggestions which lead me to believe no one can offer any suggestions on a woofer that can offer an fs of 15 Hz or lower. What I am hearing is alternatives which, I mentioned would not work under the given circumstances. As I mentioned to Sretan feel free to offer some models and I will be happy to give you more details.

Here's your option, custom made.

Pierce Audio Products Inc. - Pierce Audio Products Inc.

Also try Fi and PSI, they will all make custom one off drivers to your specifications I think.

So what are the details?

AVS can't break the rules of physics. A driver is quite like a mass on a spring (with a damper). There's really not much you can adjust other than the mass and the suspension.

If you go through the steps of entering t/s parameters in Hornresp, first is Sd. Next is Cms, which can be entered by correctly entering Sd and Vas. Next is Mmd, which can be entered by correctly entering Sd, Cms (or Vas) and Fs.

And there's your derivation of Fs - it's relative to Sd, Vas and Mmd (or Mms).

That means there's literally NOTHING you can tweak except those factors that will affect Fs. There's the cone and the suspension and THAT'S IT.

Bad form in going back on your word and not providing details. I gave you options, the only real options that are available.

It is rarely worth answering poorly-defined n00b questions, especially when the poster refuses clarification of requirements. If they can't say why they need a Fs<15Hz, they probably don't have any way of knowing if the answer you provide is useful or not.
