Volume-Potentiometer replacement rule?

Hello, I believe I can find a replacement for the volume pot from you here, Thanks.

Harman Kadon PM 665 amp, I am sure the pot has issues, not working properly. checked the service manual, says it is “A630-PM665b Knob Assemly, Volume.”， but never found this model online, it was discontinued a long long times ago.

I am wondering if I can find a replacement for the original one, are there any rules about the replacement?

It looks like an ALPS RK27 series pot, split apart. You can buy Chinese copies that are even labelled as ALPS Japan products. Original parts are not cheap though, but better than nothing. The 4 pins means there is a loudness tap for the pot and that is needed too or you'll have to lose the loudness control.

Thank you Ian, I almost figure it out. The only thing is the shaft end is not same shape with original one, not sure if I can buy or not for the volume knob? I will search again to find the same one. BTW, I can find 50k or 100k, both have much different?

Actually You may find like others have. the Ebay..cheap chinese Alps copies Are every bit as good as the Originals .. which are out of production.
Shaft makes No difference whatsoever.. splined or D type.
Diameter (the important bit) is universal. Beyond that the parts are swapable Build your own version using the dead one and the clone.

RK721 is still in production. Easy to get ahold of but not cheap. Definitely don't get Ebay fakes. In that case, get a cheap Alpha pot which is the same thing. Less than a dollar. 50K is better than 100.
