I am a newbie to this forum and site and look forward to learning more.
I have a Chiro 200/Chiro 800 Amp and preamp pushing Magnepan MG1, a system I inherited. Just attached my turntable and lo and behold, there seems to be virtually no Bass. Is this normal or do I need to get a subwoofer or what.
Thanks in advance,

Have you tried any sources other than the turntable? If you have a pair of headphones and the amp or preamp has a phone socket you may be able to get more of an idea where the bass is disappearing.

I have a pre amp for the turntable, I think the Chiro may be underpowered for these speakers
The Magnepans are lacking in deep bass, but double check the speaker phasing to make sure that
both speakers are connected the same way. The 140W/channel amplifier power should be more than
enough. Also try a better room location for these dipole speakers.
