He notices a slight bit of noise floor with a certain combination of gear, and you insist he take his amp apart to measure it some more.
Who exactly is asking him to take his amp apart? That's not necessary, at all, to measure it.
Hi,
I am not able to test or listen for differences myself at this moment, nevertheless like to proceed.
So may I ask the subjective opinion of forum members in respect of Nord’s offering and this particular combo:
Which Opamp will fit ‘best’ in this configuration?
• Setup with IMHO dynamic and life like drivers of Beyma’s AMT TPL150 and PHL 1130/5011M for mid (sealed) / bass (ported or sealed combined with extra sub),
• per 3-4 way channel actively feeded by Hypex NC500+Nord’s InputBuffer (Burson/Sparkos/..),
• connected to superb dacs like ES9018 or in time the new PRO generation or alike,
• with only HR 24/192 or above digital sources like the PC's HDD/streaming/a.s.o.
I am searching for high resolution, the purest real life sound, not a somewhat unnaturally fabricated smooth sound. ---Thanks

I have the Nords with Bursons I tried the Sparkos but found them too smooth.
You may find the standard LM4562 suitable, why not try them and if you are not happy fit the Bursons with uprated buffers later.

The guy that started the other thread and posted No 10000 is a proud owner of one of my amps.
Indeed he is! 🙂

Your mid / high drivers have almost 100 dB sensitivity.
A good quality ported or sealed PA driver bass can have 96-98 dB sensitivity.
Your search for high resolution and purest real life sound will be determined for more than 95% by the quality of your loudspeaker, your room acoustics and placement of the loudspeaker in you room.
You could ask yourself if you would need amplifiers in this power range.
I have a comparable set up (Beyma SM115/N - Audax HM210Z10 - Beyma TPL150) and my 9 watt class A amplifiers have by far enough power to drive them to the limit. By that time however I might have my ears damaged 🙄
Maybe Boggit could offer you an amplifier based on Hypex new lower power integrated ncore/SMPS boards; would make more sense IMO.

Any details for these? I couldn't see anything on the Hypexpro website
They were at display at the Amsterdam ISE some weeks ago, and you can find some data on the DIY NC400 thread.
Hypex is not very fast presenting them on their website but I guess that OEM customers can have the data by contacting Hypex.

Hypex are sending samples to the big boys looks like full production will be a while. I have expressed my interest in them.

The first Watt, I know, but going at or over max driver specs is what I will do. So a NC500 on each HF, another one on the MF and bridged on LF. All same behavior and sound characteristics in that area.
Anyway you know the AMT's capabibilties. I realy like them, even more than other alternates in the same or higher price range. Subjective of course.
Not the NC500 is the question I am dealing with, Nord's inputbuffer is.
Opinions like Colmo's idea that Sparkos seems too smooth is what I was hoping to hear.
And still do, particular as combo with these drivers.
So, anyboby tried other opamps than the the Burson and Sparkos in the Boggits input buffer? While waiting for my Sparkos to arrive i have ordered some monolith opamps to play with. I got the Burson V5 tho, but wanted to try out some assorted op amps.
So far i have tried:
OPA2132P
NE5532
NJM4580D
OPA2134PA
OPA2228P
From those i like opa2132P the most (open sound stage with very nice mids and highs, rounded bass tho) and maybe NE5532 (big bass slam, kinda easy listening to, not very open sound staging tho) second. There was hiss problem only with opa2228P.
I got following opamps still incoming:
LM4562 (well, i briefly tried it, but it needs more attention)
LME49860
2xOPA627AU (dual to mono)
2xAD797BR (dual to mono)

Just the Sonic Imagery 994's. Quite a bit of noise but still the best sounding once music is playing and you can't hear the noise.

Yeah, i got the 994's too, but its too much noise to my taste. The OPA2228P had similar problem.

Interesting that both of the ones you like don't have particularly good noise or distortion specs...
Have you given any thought to stability? Some of the op amps you are trying are 'rocket fuel', most notably the AD797.

I haven't checked the stability. Just subjective evalutions. What do you mean by "rocket fuel"? It goes unstable easy? Well, i hope it goes unstable in ways i like 🙂.

HF oscillation would not be a good thing, no matter how much you like the sound... 🙂

Hi, interested in your opinion between Burson V5 (any pros/cons yet?) and Sparkos to come.
And the others of course, a list for a lot of listening hours.

Hi, are you using an AMT too (Mundorf) in your system? Thought I saw that somewhere in both threads, or do I mix up stories?
If so, what's your idea about Burson V5 vs Sparkos related to particular the AMT?

No AMT's here. I have a few different types of ribbons though.
I don't have the Burson V5's anymore. I sold them. I liked the Sparkos better with my other buffer board though. What you like best won't be dependent on your tweeter. It will be personal taste, and your complete audio chain.
