OK so forgive me for asking but...
is there any way to add a digital INPUT to a CD player?
more specifically, is there any way I could use one of the two digital outputs of my ReVox B226 and turn it into a digital INPUT?

Yes, but it would involve adding a digital input receiver daughter board inside the player and wiring that board's output to the player's existing digital audio signal bus. You can find commercially available digital input receiver daughter boards intended for hobbyists, but even so, this would likely not be a trivial endeavor.
I'm about to refurbish / upgrade my ReVox player (new caps, discrete opamps, possibly low jitter clock when funds allow).
Since I also have a lot of music on my computer, I find it a pity that it won't be able to benefit the (supposedly) good sound I'm going to enjoy trough the ReVox. That is the only reason why I was asking 🙂

You want to use the DAC of the Revox then?
Your best chance of a digital input would be asynchronous USB. Then you could keep the master clock in the CD player. But you'd also need a service manual probably to find out where you could inject the I2S (or other format) digital signals from the USB interface.

Yes I do, but i still need to be able to read CDs as well!
