I would call this to be a partially DIY project. Has anyone tried to combine "new" Magnepan .7 panels with Open Baffle Rythmik Servo?
Would those two work well together? Can the panel be put on the top of the woofer or the tweeter in the panel would end up too high?

Any comments on the idea is also appreciated.

Planar Speaker Asylum......I seen these guy do just what your thinking ....ck there....
I have some older maggys...I use 2ea 12 " back ported subs....I use them with every speaker I put in the room....
have fun...good luck with your new maggys

Hi tyu.
You use subwoofers with your Acoustats? Do you run the Acoustats full range and just blend the subs in or do you use a crossover to get the bass off the panels? What frequency would you use to crossover (50 or 60 hZ)? The built in Acoustat crossover at 100hZ seems high.
To the OP, how were you planning to blend subs in with your maggies?
Thanks.

Not sure yet, I set myself a budget of $5k which I plan on spending for my "ultimate" system.
I only recently discovered NAD M12 and M22, and might stretch out with the budget, but will need wife's approval. :)

The current plan would be to stay off of the active mod of the .7's, but start with M12 and M22 plus .7 as it is.
The next step would be adding single 12" OB subwoofer from GR Research. The M12 has an option of HPF LPF so I would send everything above 70-80Hz towards 7s (this way 7s would be able to give their best without stretching), and all below 70-80Hz to a single OB subwoofer.

I hope this makes sense. The idea is not to buy/sell and end in an endless search loop.

I feed the sub-bass boxes.....full rang....an run what ever main speaker full rang also....
I end up with the bass boxs...40-60hz...now this is 12db...so this means ...there well be 70-90hz.....
now with your spectra 2-22-2200---all the same...my Spectra 3-33-3300.. have a 100mf cap in the input...I think yours do all so....this is a 6db passive crossover..Acoustat states that it 100hz..that means there info passing down to 50-60hz...this works well sounds good....well too me anyway....but my room is 18'X25'... I think yours is saller...
but I say don't even try to use one sub.....less you only have one ear...you get better sound with 2ea 61/2" subs than one anything....have fun...
all just onemans finging...

So when using the subs with your 33s you are running full range or with switch at 100hz cut? Do you feed the subs from the Spectras or line level from the preamp?
By the way, I have an opportunity to purchase a pair of Spectra 33s, do they have more "punch" and impact than 22s or sound basically the same with a little more bass? Thanks.

For me......2 Acoustat panels has never worket..sounded right!..
what going on...is youll get almost 3db more output....just by adding the one more panel...the interface works better..i think 3 panels just matches the interfaces better....parts like res...stay cooler...is just sounds right...4panels.....bass gos up...to me gets a little out of wak.....like me..hehe...
As for the bass boxes....an mains speakers.... all are ran off the full rang preamp outputs...most of the time the 3 are ran full rang....are any esls are ran full rang..
have fun.....I have moved away from my Acoustat.....I got Apogee Capliers Sig..
an I have the Stages an the minors....there vary close...90%...
