Yes, I'm using the trusty sigma 11 from AMB.

I have them in a bunch of different audio projects and they've been great performers.

Some would argue that a linear regulated supply is a philosophical mismatch for a class D amp, but to my ears there are benefits.

BK

Curious about the details of this argument against reg power?

I Have in my possession 6 of the sigma 11 Boards, and now ordering parts to get them operational. All of them, likely to be used for Weiner amps, starting with a full dual mono amp.

Just curious about comments about unregulated vs Regulated P/S used for Class D

To my ears TPA3116 (the one I have, anyway) sounds best at 19V, however having compared 2 different ASUS 19v laptop bricks (one 3A, one 6.5A), vs my adjustable tekpower linear supply @ 19V, the LPS sounds MUCH better, but based on what I've read this could be achieved w/ capacitors after the power supply too. In any case, I'll be running my wiener off the linear supply, ill try some diff voltages but i think the 19v will be ideal.

Tonight's discovery: the "customer part #" on a Mouser BOM isn't unique to that BOM. So if I enter the stereo card reference designators in the stereo card BOM as the customer part numbers, all the reference designators for common parts on the PBTL BOM get changed.

So if I sent anyone a PBTL BOM, the reference designators on the BOM are incorrect - you'll get the right parts in the right quantities, but you can't rely on the reference designators on the part bags. The stereo card BOM is correct. If you're building a PBTL card, I'll send you a mouser BOM and a separate XLS sheet with the real part designators.

Apologies if this messed anyone up.

State of the current build:

Mailed so far: mb.
Packed and mailing out tomorrow AM: steeveboy, robert1325.
Digikey order was supposed to be here Friday except a snowstorm happened, it'll be here tomorrow and I can then finish the cards.

Glad you like it.

Got a few hours of work finally in on this. Here's where I am.

- lostthumb, steeveboy, mb and robert1325 are mailed
- 3 working 8 ohm cards on the bench (dweekie, eplates, brucepotter)
- 1 8 ohm card which isn't coming up - GVDD won't go above 0.6V, gonna hot air on another TPA3118 tomorrow at work and hope for the best. Assuming it works it's 1MOR's card.
- have 1 fully built 4 ohm card (atoluma #1), not programmed/tested yet.
- atoluma #2/3 (4 ohm) and jigglebones (6 ohm) cards built, but missing 2.2uF caps. I messed up and ordered half as many as I needed :/ ordering the parts later tonight.

I have two spare cards, parts installed, no output filters and untested. Assuming 1MOR's card works, and these two work, I'll have two more cards available.

Once I get these cards out the door, and fix an amp for someone that's been apart on my workbench for probably a month now, I'll start another buy.

I'm pretty much out of PCBs, I've probably got half a dozen stereo PCBs left and a single PBTL PCB. I'm happy with the PBTL design and I'll probably reorder it, on the stereo card I'll probably add a couple of jumpers which jumper the negative input to ground, or wedge a 10 pin terminal block on the input side to add a couple of ground terminals.

There'll be another group buy as soon as I get this done and a couple other things off my plate. I'll start taking orders, probably have them shipping out starting a month after that by the time PCBs come in and assembly happens.

Current status:

- dweekie, eplates, brucepotter (all 8 ohm) and jigglebones (6 ohms) are packaged and mailing out tomorrow.
- 1MOR's 8 ohm amp is still under the knife, haven't had a chance to replace the TPA yet.
- atoluma's cards are built but waiting for 2.2uF caps to arrive.

hey guys, had a more technical question.

Now that Parts Express is stocking them, what impedence Blue ALPS pot is most suitable for my weiner?

So far I have only used the 50k and 100k in various YJ blue black builds.

Is there a better value?

the big 3116 thread is all over the place on this topic.

I would like to build my weiner with the best match.

P/E has a 20k and a 10k ALPS pot...

Have to clean up the silkscreen, but other than that the rev2 stereo Wiener is ready.

Changes:
- 10 pin terminal block instead of 8, with ground pins added to the audio inputs. Makes hooking up unbalanced sources, center tapped transformers, etc... a whole lot more convenient.
- Removed ceramic input cap footprints and PBTL mode straps.
- Absolutely no other changes. Same layout (other than above changes) and same BOM. Well, the text on the back has changed 🙂
