Hi, I've decided I'd like to try a 401 bearing on my 301 deck but I have to raise the platter slightly to be able to achiebe this. I see this as an oppotunity to reduce the vibration of the bearing going into the 301's chassis. I have two questions :-
1. Is it better to reduce vibration over a larger or smaller surface area i.e. would 3 simple rubber "nuts" be the best solution or would I need to make a base plate that covers the entire surface area of the bearings underside/
2. Is it better to try and reduce a vibration's frequency into a specific Hz that is not audible or poses a risk in creating spurious resonances that can be picked up further down the line like in the chassis, platter, tonearm?

I think these experiments are only usefull if you can measure the results thus measure the wow , speed .These original trustbearings were not that bad at all.
I'm not interested in "measurements", it's how it sounds that is important. I like play vinyl and not obsess over measurements.
I have a oil version. The 401 bearing has better rumble through the bearing compared to the 301, this is info supplied from the guy that now owns Garrard.
