Direct replacement for 5Z3PA and 5Z3P Rectifier

HI,

I am wondering if the Russian 5C3S / 5U4G SVETLANA tubes are direct replacement for 5Z3PA and 5Z3P Chinese Tubes?

Would like to change the Chinese tubes because both had been "sparking" occasionally a few seconds after the power is turn on. Do not want the "sparking " to destroy anything in the SE amps i am using now.

Any advise would be most appreciated.

Both Russian and Chinese ST bottle 5U4 "equivalents" SUCK. Start up arcing reports are all too common. The current production EH 5U4GB (straight bottle) is quite OK. If you can source NOS GE 5U4GBs, at reasonable cost, use them and relax.

That is exactly why i wanna change as i recent got a pair of SED C wing 6550 NOS and a pair of Raytheon NOS 6SN7 for my SE amp. Not good to save a few bucks and destroy the NOSs and the amp.

How about Russian 6N8S and 6N9S tubes?
From reflector.. NOS are they reliable?

The Russian 5C3S Svetlana is excellent. Bright emitter so fast heating up.

If I could read Chinese I would be more sure but I would say it is a direct replacement.

I have these 5C3S made by Svetlana OTK marked. Definitely reliable and better than china made 5Z3PA in terms of reliability and quality.
