Duelund Capacitor Porn from Vietnam

Somehow every country we fight in war ends up doing really well afterwards. Look at Hiroshima today. Maybe somebody should nuke Detroit.

What a completely inappropriate point to make here.

I bring up a DIY forum in a foreign country and some one brings up the desire for violence and justification for past wars with them. I'm aghast, really. How can anyone be motivated to go from interest in foreign countries for cool electronics to making blanket statements about war and violence truly shocks me.

Best,

Erik

It's very non-fancy but I found poly film-in-oil industrial electric motor caps to sound quite nice. They are about $12 for a 50uF and 450v. Big aluminum can with sloshing oil inside. But I am no cap connoisseur so have no idea what a $4000 Duelund can possibly sound like? Voice of the virgin goddesses of Mt Olympia (Duelund) vs table radio (indsstrial cap)?

For anyone in Europe try searching for 'Shizuki' capacitors on eBay. There always seems to be lots of new WME-RS series caps for sale at very reasonable prices. From what I understand these are essentially the same as the ASC caps (ASC = American Shizuki Co). I bought 4x 40uF Shizuki WME-RS caps last week and they measure 40.36uF, 40.59uF, 40.70uF and 41.06uF. I bought a batch of 8uF ones a while ago and they were similarly close in capacitance. Performance wise, I haven't found better for tube PSUs or high value coupling caps. Not tried Duelund though, but not losing sleep over that (I'll be a lucky man if my system ever evolves to the level that the best use of $4K is a single cap).
