Those are two quite different drivers from an initial look
Fostex is (in)famous for specialized / limited distribution of many of their Special Edition drivers - many mainly to the Japanese enthusiast market, and with very short term / low production volume internationally.
That said, if the 108SOL is anything like the 103 50th anniversary model, or the earlier FE108Sigma (before the clever UDR surround and pleated cone) it'd be very interesting indeed.
Perhaps sufficient customer inquiry of Madisound would inspire them to stock? 😀

FE108_SOL is totally JDM man. 😀 Think of how cool you will be if you can get one.
BTW, it wasn't that long ago that all Fostex drivers were JDM. People bought them from EIFL in Japan and waited.
Maybe Madisound will pick them up. They do get other special edition drivers.

I have a pair of the 103 sol, that driver looks like it has the 103 sol cone and the 108 sigma cast basket but with only mounting holes. I wonder if it's the same magnet.

Tony - the cone and dust cap certainly look similar, and perhaps even the gorgeous cast basket from 108Sigma, but that definitely looks like a much larger magnet than the 103SOL to me.
It'll be interesting to get some field reports - the most recent high priced special edition that I remember best - FE138ESR, was not for its "wonderfulness"

Did Madisound give you any estimate on price? (Fostex.jp indicates 19,000 yen each in Japan, which is about $160.)
The FE108EZ Sigma magnet is 90mm (400g) and the FE108-SOL is 100mm (451g). The intended use is for a folded horn, but with a Qts of 0.34 it might work ported too. Price will be about $153 each.

Haven't seen but pictures of these. I do have a client who has bought a Frugel-Horn Mk3 flat-pak (it should work fine in them) and another who has made inquiries.
If the FE108 SOL is as much better as the FE108e∑ as the FE103 SOL is over the FE103En it should be a very good driver.

Yeah, it is supposed to be good, but nobody knows (or at least nobody I know).
Well, I might give it a try. In one of the last Japanese MJ audio magazines they published a small bassreflex box with it, but since I cannot read Japanese, I don't know, what they say about it...
