The Best DAC is no DAC

AFAIK, in this instance, the real advantage to using differential output would be power supply rejection. The output is directly tied to the FF power supply.
My pre-amp and poweer am p are all balanced so differntial out put is indeed the key driver for using a flip flop.

Depending on the flip flop you use and supply voltage, it can also act as a level shifter. My flip flop has 6.4V supply, so voltage swing is nearly double what is coming off the USB board (3.3V supply). Oh, and since the signal is now balanced, I assume that voltage is doubled again?

Self powered USBtoI2S with first battery pack (ADM7150 LDO).
Isolated I2S/DSD interface and flip-flop with second battery pack (ADM7150 LDO and LT3042 LDO at +6.6V).
Switch for battery/charger.

Looks very interesting Jean-Paul.

I assume the board reflects the schematic you posted a few days ago?

What are your plans for the board; will you offer it to others?

... Why a new one? JLSOUNDS one is perfect. I would go FPGA or XMOS if I´ve time to start a new design, but I will go first JLSOUNDS to have an idea of the quality expected with this architecture: only flip/flop following LP.

Today I´m using HQPlayer and foobar with IFI DAC with Windows; Audirvana with IFI DAC with IOS.

!!! I can´t upload the jpg´s!!! What the f...😡

I just got the impression is was a complete new interface. What are you using for clocks?

... the DSD-CLK from the JLSOUNDS.

But you can supply external clock via SMB connector (up to expensive Neutron Star).

This design will fit small enclosure with two LiFePO4 batteries (+12V with BMS) or 2x 3S (SOSHINE 266650 ones with BMS).

I will give @hazard500 idea a try for evaluation, no more yet.

I guess I'm not up to speed on the whole implementation.

Has anyone ever seen a phase noise plot for the Neutron star?

Will it still have native DSD 256 support on Linux?
