Let's all wish for rain in California! 🙂

Even against Albert Hammond's one time hit song "It Never Rains In Southern California"? 😀

But seriously, anything to stop those horrendous forest fires. Remember, Syria has had a darught spell now 5 years long. Prince Charles reckons that was a major contributing factor to the war over there. Having lived around those parts, I have to agree, even on a normal year that's some mighty dry land.

What's the problem with having 50W at 50 kHz, Bill? Or am I missing something? I assume you have no significant breakthrough of whatever much isn't supposed to be there, although I have witnessed cases of ultrasonic noise leaking out of a cheap CD player, and that could be quite a problem. It was later found that a low pass filter inside was in fact not working due to a leaked out capacitor, and set straight by replacement, removing the worst of the problem.

No such problems with the real time DAC (8 parallel Philips 1543 DACs, no oversampling, no usual brick wall filters, just some classic analog first order filters), although I can hardly claim much on basis of just one (Australian) sample, delivering truly high quality sound. Worth every penny it cost (AU$ 250) and then some.

Seems like a paradox to me. Here we are, trying to avoid every bit of phase shift we can inside the amp, which means it must have a very wide bandwidth, and on the other hand this very act appears to be a possible trap which creates more problems than it resolves.
some year ago when my tinitus it hard I cannot ear no oversampling, or digital source nor digital amp ,only vinyl, ss/tube that where not relate to volume..now I'm happy with apodinzing filter hw by W.micro (filter 5)
nice to see some noise about resistor....😛

I found that a certain elevation...... about at the snow line -- 2500 to 3000 feet level is a very good compromise.... not too hot and not too cold. Above the fog and smog but below the snow (most of the time). That is where I am right now..... looking at miles of forest trees.... wheras a month earlier it was a forest of sky scrappers, hot and smog.... even on the 30th floor above the city.

Richard, ever wonder why the European gentry went to the seaside lowlands in the winter and mountain resorts in the summer? About exactly the opposite of what most continetal dwellers do?

Because that way they live in as constant a temperature as can be managed. As little extremes as mangable. The Italian gentry for example spent their summers on the Dolomites and their winters in Venice.

No, I have never thought about their habits. But, mild and constant temp is what I looked for also in a place where I could retire/afford. All along the western side of the 'foot' hills to the Sierra-Nevada mountain range at the 2000-3000 foot level is as good as it gets, weather-wise. Not too hot and not too cold.

Besides being comfortable, the heat and cooling bills are modest, also.

Sounds like a fun place.

the most commonly requested type of content on Tor was child pornography, followed by black markets, while the individual sites with the highest traffic were dedicated to botnet operations. Many whistleblowing sites maintain a presence as well as political discussion forums. Cloned websites and other scam sites are numerous. Sites associated with Bitcoin, fraud related services and mail order services are some of the most prolific.

"Guns, Germs and Steel" is actually Jared Diamond's optimistic book - "The World Until Yesterday" points out that modern mobility, not killing strangers on sight is a recent social invention

and from that perspective, our, Richard's geographic living opportunities rest in part on historically recent successful wars, near genocides in the Americas
