Hey there,
I am thinking of chancing my 845 tube in my mono blocks. I have been looking on the web and are now even more confused. The ones that is mounted now is some unspecified Psvane. Can you recommend a replacement, I am looking to spend max 500USD.
Thanks in advance.

Go for an inexpensive tube and save or
buy various spare tubes for future use.
Ask for 24hs burnin to getter activation.

The PSVANE 845 is actually a pretty decent example of the type from very limited experience, and as much as it pains me to admit it! 😀
As far as I know these are made in the old Guigang plant which went belly up a few years ago.

Go with shuguang b or c. Don't go with sophia as they are prone to failure and they do not stand behind there products.
Shuguang 845B is probably the best for reasonable money. Main problem will be to find a reliable seller. These tubes are sensitive to shocks and thus shipping directly from China is not the best option.

The 845C type isnot the smaller plate dissipation(75W)?

Thanks for your replays. But I think I will try the Psvane WE845 Xtreme Classic Series, from what I can see from reviews it should be one of the best....Hope they are worth the extra bucks.
Very true.

Yes. It has lower dissipation than 845A/845B.

Um....
I kind of have a hard time taking that article seriously after a comment like this one near the end of the article:
I'm not saying the GM70 isn't necessarily a better tube.. But I'm fairly certain that if it is it's not solely because the filament dissipates more power. As you may know, higher filament power will make any tube work better. This is also what makes the GM70 work so much better and easier to use than the 845.
Also, Not sure what the hell they're talking about here:
The 845 can do 100Watt plate dissipation in class C (as a transmitter tube) and only 75 Watt in Class A (as audio tube). This 75 Watt is the destruction limit, it means it is no recommended working point.
Here's a snippet from the RCA datasheet..

This article kind of stinks if you ask me.

typo? Shouldn't it be thoriated tungsten?
Looks like Jac was in a hurry to write this article.
Like the 845, the GM70 has Thorium (bright yellow burning) filaments, but the GM70 has much higher filament power.
<snip>
The tube has bright Tungsten heater.
